If you just started feeding your baby solids...

have they cut back on the amount of formula they're drinking? My granddaughter is 6 mos. She usually gets nursed first thing in the morning, then a bottle at 11, 2:30, 5:30 and 9ish. She's now been eating 2 meals a day. Yesterday she ate around 5:15-5:30 so she didn't want her bottle. She finally took it reluctantly around 7:30 which then pushed her last bottle of the day back. She didn't take it till around 10. The ped had said she still wanted her to get around 30 oz of formula a day. She takes between 6 & 8 oz bottles. We thought maybe it's ok to drop the bottle right after dinner, then just give her one around 8-so she can to bed for the night earlier. She usually takes a nap around 8 till 9, then would get her bottle and go in for the night. She goes for her 6 mos. checkup next Tues. so my daughter will ask the ped about the bottles again. we can't force her to drink if she doesn't want it. But she's really enjoying all the new food we've introduced.

Re: If you just started feeding your baby solids...

Here is DS schedule....every baby is different though

At 3 months
he got
6am 6 oz bottle

9am 2 teaspoons of cereal (rice, barley or oatmeal) & 6oz bottle

12pm 6 oz bottle

3 pm 6 oz bottle

6 pm 6 oz bottle and 2 teaspoons of cereal (rice, barley or oatmeal)

9pm 6 oz bottle

At 4 months
He started to sleep past his 6am bottle so he eliminated that one
So now at like 8:30/9am 6 oz bottle

12ish 1 tablespoon of cereal (rice, barley or oatmeal), 1 oz of fruit & 6 oz bottle

3ish 6 oz bottle

6ish 6 oz bottle & tablespoon cereal (rice, barley or oatmeal), 1 oz of fruit

9ish 6 oz bottle

At 5 months (We just started the past week)
830/9 2 oz of fruit, 1 tablespoon cereal (rice, oatmeal or barley)

12ish 1 oz fruit & 1 oz veggie & 6 oz bottle

3ish 6 oz bottle

6ish, 2 oz fruit and tablespoon of cereal (rice, oatmeal or barley) & 6 oz bottle

9ish 6 oz bottle

Each cereal I tried in the beginning I gave each cereal one week to make sure there are no reactions. Then when I introduced a new fruit I tried the fruit for 3 days then when it seems clear I moved on to the next one. Same with the veggies.

But like I said each baby is different this works for the DS and I slowly increase the food.

HTH
