If you have a pale complexion please come in..

I am so pale. You would never think I am sicilian. Everyone always makes a comment about how pale I am. It's quite annoying. I guess I am venting because the weather is getting warmer and our skin will be showing more. For you ladies that are pale, does it bother you? It bothers me a bit but it bothers me more when people (especially DH's family) make a comment about how pale I am. Get over it already. ok vent over!

It used to, when I was a teen...I've embraced it a lot though. It's who I am, and I actually really like being pale/fair. My freckles look cute in the summer on my face and shoulders, and my skin tone is perfect for tattoo ink.

If someone's being an asshat about it, then I tell them that there's nothing pretty about skin cancer and that usually shuts them up.

I'm with you, I hate being pale! I used to go tanning year round because I hate it so much but it's so bad for you! I stopped when I got married. Now I'll get a spray tan if I have a big event coming up. Otherwise, I just try to embrace my pastiness! Lol

I used to hate it and I would go tanning. Then my grandma got melanoma...then my mom got melanoma. I stopped tanning. If anyone says im pale i make a joke out of it. I'll say...I'm not pale...I'm transparent! or i just say i'm porcelain. and honestly now with all the famous women coming out about how they want to protect their pale skin, it's making it easier for us.

i will use a bronzer and blush just so i get a nice glow and i dont look like a corpse. :)

Thanks for your responses. Do you guys feel a little self conscious when you show your legs when wearing a skirt or dress? I avoid wearing them for this reason.

I don't fake tan, I don't spray tan, I don't do ANY of that 'turn me orange' crap -

I have great skin (It's stretched over my fat ass - but I have great skin!)

I'm not ruining it - I don't care who comments. I don't get it, would someone ever comment to say "OMG your skin is just SO dark! You should reallly do something about that" - Um, no. I embrace my light skin -

I lather myself in sunscreen and if I tan a bit through that, great - but I'm by no means TRYING for the tan.

It means I don't have wrinkles or age spots or splotchy orange patches, or weird spots where my makeup isn't matching the rest of my body - etc.

I'm very pale and usually match the lightest of foundation shades. I'm not sure what about being pale is associated with unattractiveness, but I like my skin tone and don't try to change it by tanning.

I mean, people POINT at me and stare when I'm at the beach. Sometimes I can actually hear them commenting on it. However, with my hair and eye color - if I were tan, I'd look like a freak. It just doesn't fit me and this is who I am so I don't really allow it to phase me.

I also tell people, if they comment, that I'm looking forward to having little to NO wrinkles when I'm older.

If they really are rude I just stare at them blankly and shake my head. Why should I feel bad for their ignorance? Imagine going up to someone who is black and commenting on how BLACK they are - it's the same thing, just as offensive and really judgmental.

I don't have many freckles on my legs and they're pretty pale. I do wear nude stockings with closed toe shoes and use concealer for my blue varicose veins when I'm not wearing stockings. The lightest ivory concealer, that is.

Yes, it bothers me a little. But I did buy the Sally Hansen stuff that I haven't tried yet. I'm not going to put my skin at risk for vanity, I have the perfect lesson in front of me... my Mom. Who is now paying the price of years of sunbathing. So not worth it.

In college I actually died my hair black to make my skin looking paler. --I was into extremes :hah


That sally hanson stuff looked ridiculous on me.

My face gets slightly tan in the summer & I don' t really like it. It brings out the redness, and then doesn't match the rest of me.

I hate having to switch make up shades.

My legs are big, so they aren't going to look great, no matter what color they are, so it doesn't really bother me. I usually wear skirts that come to my knee, no hose in the summer.

I don't really understand how tan=more attractive.

It's funny...I have south asian friends and they are OBSESSED with fairness. The paler the better. My friend Hriitu thinks white people are crazy for wanting to tan their beautiful white skin

I love my pale skin!! It keeps me looking years younger than I actually am....it keeps me from having wrinkles when most of my friends are starting to get them...and I think it looks really pretty!
The only downside is that I can't wear white shirts because if I'm photographed, I look naked. But I usually get messy if I wear white, so it's not a problem!

Embrace it! Ignore anyone who has a comment....pale is beautiful too!
