If you had your DC's Christening at a restaurant - some questions....
We're Christening James on May 23. We'll be having a luncheon at a restaurant afterwards.
- The day before, how much running around did you have to do?
- What did you do about centerpieces and/or favors? Bring them to the restaurant the day before? Morning of?
Thanks so much! 
ETA - we're only having about 30 people, I think it will be maybe 5 tables. I'm planning on doing low glass bowls filled with river rocks and fresh flowers. I have to go to the restaurant this afternoon, so I'll ask them what their protocol is with the CP's and stuff.

Not much. I remember scrambling to do placecards that day but only because I forgot about them.
I definitely had to bring centerpieces day of... Mine were accidentally delivered the day before and they made me come get them because they had no place to store them. I didnt do favors but I imagine it would have been the same.

the day before - none.
the day of - we only did cake and we had that dropped off for us. with all the food, etc...there was really no room for centerpieces. The favors were dropped off with the cake - so we were in the clear with that too!

It was a little hectic day of. We had a lot going on, and no real plan. Also people started showing up at our house that we really didn't expect to be there. Only a few, but it's a small house. 
My advice is to make a plan. See when the restaurant will let you drop everything off. If it's day of, maybe have someone else do it.

For centerpieces I did balloons but tied with Tulle instead of curling ribbon, it dresses it up so nicely and made the room look great.
The favors and things for the kids I brought the night before.
The cake we brought with us that day.
ETA: FOr Jack's I had flower pots painted by Val and brought those the day before!

we made it really easy on ourselves....no centerpieces. I really didnt see the need for them. The cake came with the "package" so that was already there and the favors I just brought the day of and handed them out to the guests personally towards the end...helped me make sure I personally thanked everyone for coming.

Day of was a little tricky w/ dressing & planning bottles/feeding b4 mass.
Cake was supplied by restaurant & it was right down the block from church so we dropped off balloons right b4 church.

We dropped off the CP's the morning of the party and the bakery dropped off the cake for us.

DD's baptism is may 23rd too!
we're not doing CPs or favors. very few decorations as well--a few balloons and maybe a few from like party city. same as we did for DS.
my mom went that morning before the church (starts at 1:30 so plenty of time) and hung it up for DS. it took her about 10 minutes.

I brought everything to the restaurant the day before except the flower centerpieces which were delivered that day
My pet peeve (and maybe just since I am a control freak) is that family members quickly left the church to get to the restaurant while I was changing the baby and taking pics...i wanted to make sure everything "looked right" before guests arrived and obviously this didnt work out

We had a small reception like you. I didn't do too much running around the day before. I picked up the flowers in the morning. DH picked up the cake and the balloons and we met at the restaurant dropped everything off, told them how to set up and it was done. The night before I printed a few pictures in black and white and put together the favor bags.

The restaurant did the cake and the florist delivered the centerpieces. We brought the favors that day.

We are having our dd's christening on the same day! It must be a popular day... Our reception will be at Angelina's in Lynbrook - where is yours? I know you are close to us..
Angelina's is taking care of the cake for us. We are doing centerpieces and favors which will have be delivered the morning of but the church is not until 2:30 so we should be ok and not too rushed... I am not looking forward to making the centerpieces but I priced them out at various florists and they just wanted way too much $ so we are making those the day before. I am making little chocolates (got the molds, boxes at Michael's) to give as favors...
Hoping for good weather the day of - it seems to rain for every important event in our lives (ds's christening, our wedding - eek)!

The day before no running
We picked up the balloons and cake that morning and my brother went straight to the hall after the ceremony to set up the balloons and favors on the tables.
Our hall wouldn't let us drop things off the day before - unless we paid for storage.

I had about 60 people at a restaurant and both sets of parents helped out with:
-Picking up cake from bakery and dropping it off at restaurant
-I picked up the favors/centerpieces on Friday and my parents delivered them to the restaurant for me the morning of the Christening
-I didn't do placecards
I think that was all that needed to be done that day.
