if you dont use your bedding's bumpers...do you use breathable or nothing?

DS is 4 months and moves around a lot while sleeping. sometimes i find him up in the corner of the crib so i took out his bumpers last night.

do you use breathable ones or nothing? right now i have nothing but i feel like hes gonna get his arm stuck through the bars while sleeping because one time, with the bumpers in, his arm was hanging through the bars.

does this happen to anyone ?

Nothing

We had bumpers, but once DS started standing in the crib we took them off. There were plenty of times we would find his feet through the bars and I would get so nervous, but we have yet to have a problem with them being stuck..I guess they just figure it out themselves Chat Icon

Nothing. We had the bumpers in for decoration, but once DD moved into her crib we took the bumbers out.

Nothing.

DS has banged his head while rolling around, bumps into the crib rails, hangs his feet out of the crib between the rails, etc. Guess what, they learn they're there and adjust.

DS never had anything. With DD, we started using breathable bumpers when her pacis spent more time OUT of her crib than IN her crib.... they weren't to keep her in or anything, just contain the pacis a bit more.

Breathable bumpers. I'm ok with them because the risk with regular bumpers is suffocation and strangulation from the ties. The breathable bumpers are mesh so DD can breathe through them and they have velcro, not ties, so she can't get strangled in them.

Nothing. But I have breathable bumpers in case I need to use them to keep binkys in in the future.

We use the breathable ones. But now it sounds like the AAP is saying that even those are no good.

I don't feel like the bumpers helped for much besides maybe keeping paci's in the crib. DS still finds ways to get his arms/legs through the bars - but we've never had any real problem with that.

He's bumped his head many times and it's fine. The breathable bumpers really don't give enough padding to make a difference with that anyway.

Nothing. DD got her leg caught in the slats a few times and freaked out so I was debating on getting the breathable ones. I heard someone say they'll learn how to get unstuck so I gave her a few days and she just stopped getting stuck. Now she hasn't had it happen in over a month or two so I think it's safe to say she did learn.

We're bumperless. I kept meaning to pick up the breathable ones, but never got around to it. Now DD would use them to try and climb out.

We used nothing at first. Then by 5 months or so, she started moving around and her pacifier would constantly fall out and her arms and legs kept getting stuck so I put in breathable ones.

We used breathable and then eventually nothing. When DS was tiny and the mattress was still up high I used the regular bumpers around the bottom of the crib- behind the bars but hiding the metal stuff UNDER the mattress bc it looked better than nothing.

Nothing, She puts her arm through, but it isn't a big deal sometimes she'll get her leg caught, but the bars aren't so close that even when she gets its stuck it can't seriously hurt her.

Re: if you dont use your bedding's bumpers...do you use breathable or nothing?

At first we had nothing, then once he started moving around, we had the breathable bumpers bc we were worried about his arm/leg getting caught. Once he was more mobile and standing in the crib, we put in Wonder Bumpers which I LOVE. They go around each individual rail. I bought them online but I actually saw them in BBB last week.

DS is 24months and still has them in the crib. We have never used the bumpers that came with his bedding - bummed as they are so cute!

ETA: We decided to get Wonder Bumpers bc he would fall sometimes and I am very afraid of a head injury.
