If you don't get a "bonus"...
Like teachers, mailmen, doormen, etc. do you get "gifts" or "tips" etc from those you work with all year? If so, what kind of things do you get? Just curious.

I got a box of chocolate from a vendor I hired last year, but other than that, no, nothing.
In the past I have received some chocolate from parents I worked with, but now I have a desk job, so the parents don't know me.

Some people gave me chocolates, some gave me cards.
I heard they give a bonus at my job, but I've been there only three months, and they are sticklers for giving any priviledges before one year. S@cks for me!!

When I was working in publishing, we got the week off between xmas and New year's and it was paid!

Rarely as I teach high school.
If anything it's stationary or chocolates. To be honest it can vary from year to year.
I do teach one set of triplets this year, wonderful kids. They came in this morning with two little coordinating outfits for my

As a middle school teacher it varies from year to year and from class to class whether or not the kids give me anything. My chair gave me a $10 g/c to Barnes and Nobles

I work in an office, but I don't get a bonus. I do get a Christmas present form my immediate supervisor & our assisitant.( I give to them too)
Everyone in the office got a box of chocolates from Switzerland form the comptroller in our office there who was just here to visit.
We used to get gifts from the printers we work with , but this year we didn't.
The office as a whole got a few food gifts from vendors.

when I was in the classroom, the kids would always bring in gifts... this year I work at a tutoring center and the owner took us to a nice meal and then they gave each of us a gift card to barnes and nobles. I thought it was nice of them

My boss always gives me great gifts. This year it was a CK Collection cashmere scarf and gloves as well as a GC for Itunes for the Ipod he gave me last year.
The other attorney gave me a GC for Spafinders

Funny you should post this.
I started a new job on November 1. I know they give bonuses because the sr. vp of the company made a comment a few weeks ago about how "bonus checks hadn't been cut yet." I wondered if, since I'm so new, I'd get a bonus.
Well...it's 12:30, my office closes at 3 and I've seen nothing. My boss gave me some candles which was nice, but I didn't get the company bonus I heard about. Oh well. I really couldn've used it...

I am in advertising and my bosses that I have been working for since August got me NOTHING - not even a card. Funny how the man I worked for for 3 years gave me a card and a check today.
One of the salesman I work for took me out for a sushi lunch and gave me a small box of godiva, another person I work closely with gave me a amex GC.
