Forgot to add the why! My husband has family there so we have vsited several times... The houses are cheap and gorgeous, there are many nice areas and it just seems like a good place to raise a family. If I could bring my whole family with me I'd move in a heartbeat.

If money was not a factor, then Rockport, MA. I also love the area around Franconia Notch in New Hampshire.

I live in Maryland and I have to say if you want to live near where the jobs are (DC/Baltimore) the cost of living is the same as LI. I actually bargain shop when I go to LI because I feel like stores are cheaper there than where I am in Md.
The lure of the Delaware no income tax, however, is very appealing!

I went to college there so I know a little bit about it. Lower Delaware aka "Slower Lower" is more rural. That's also where the beaches are. Upper Delaware, which is close to NJ, PA, & MD, is more suburban with the exception of Wilmington, which is a city. I went to school in Northern Delaware (20 mins from the Jersey border, 45 mins from Philly, 75 minutes from Baltimore) and there are a lot of nice towns and communities. There is also no income tax which is a great perk! I would have liked to move there but DH didn't want to leave LI.

Beacon Hill section of Boston, or Society Hill part of Philadelphia. I love the city and old homes

Boston...I went to college there and love everything about that city!
My brother lives in Cape Cod and I would love to be closer to him. I would like to live on the upper cape or at least summer mid cape.

I used to live there and would love to move back. I keep trying to convince DH. You get soooo much more for your money and you still have lots to do, the city area, it's not like you're in the middle of nowhere. It's a very clean and family friendly city.

Move? Away from NY? NEVER !!!
If we didn't have the kids I'd say Boston - but IN Boston proper. But even then, it's be a stretch ........If we didn't have the kids we'd still be in Manhattan. - but that's still NY
