would you?
I'm already at 24000 miles in one year and only have 15000 left before I hit my limit and get charged 15 cents a mile. I look at it that i could be out 5 grand now or five grand and whatever i could save in gas within the next two years?
Any advice? thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Re: If you could get out of your Pathfinder lease for 5k

Absolutely not.

Start driving less. Buy a $1000 beater to drive around if you need something to tack miles on.

But it makes no financial sense to pay $5000 to get out of any lease, regardless of the circumstances.

No.
That seems like a complete waste of money, imo. I dont know how much driving you do, but i can't see there being a difference of 5k in gas over the next 2 years.

Is driving part of your job? If so you should be getting paid .58/mile by your company.

Not if you are commuting back and fourth to your job.

The mileage allowance is only for additional travel outside going to the homebase.

Re: If you could get out of your Pathfinder lease for 5k

i do get reimbursed for above and beyond-i guess i didn't expalin well
my truck is alot of money and i do love it BUT i get 16 miles a gallon-and i am over mileage big time-i will reach the mile mark at two years time (thats a given) between the cost of the truck and the cost of gas i am dropping 900 amonth. if i bought a junker i will still have to pay for the lease till it is up or get rid of it now and learn my less on and move on.
just with the economy the way it is i am not sure if i want to take the money out of the bank and figure i could pay it now and by a gas miser (if i could get one) or keep it keep paying crazy gas and pay the money i owe at the end of the lease? sorry having a tough timemaking this decision

For 5K you can buy a used car and use as a 2nd car to help with gas mileage.

what are your monthly payments?

and may I ask why you're leasing a car with a 13,000 mile a year limit when you do that much driving?

this is a tough call b/c you're on track right now to owe $5K in over-mileage - like you said. plus Pathfinders get what...12 MPG?

monthly payment is 454 put nothing down. When I originally leased the car I had taken a position that was supposed to be in Melville- (I live in East Northport). Things changed in my company and after traveling back and forth to Uniondale 5 days a week I am now in Hauppauge three days a week and Uniondale 2 days a week with twice monthly travel to CT. Right now I am so happy to have a job I won't !@#$ about what my original offer letter says. Anyway-I get reimbursed for things away from home base which is Hauppauge but I still am putting alot of miles on a car I don't own and TRUST me-will NOT buy at the end of the lease (Only because of gas-love the truck). I get 313 on a tank of gas that just cost me 70 bucks with 50 miles still in the truck. There is a great site epa mileage or something that figured out that the truck at 15k a year is 4100 for gas - i guess I could keep it and stop feeding the kids? (kidding of course) its just a tough call with the economy this way

so you basically have another $11K in payments for the next 2 years + $5K a yr in gas + you will owe $5K at the end of the lease.

so over the next 2 years, your car will cost you a total of $26,000!!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon you can buy a brand new car for that

eta: $26K - $5K for turning it in early = $21K, which would still get you a brand new Camry LE or Accord LX. I don't know... I think if I was spending $400 a month on gas and $454 a month on a car payment, I would try and get out of it. maybe you can negotiate a lesser penatly if you buy or lease another Nissan?

I normally would say no to the $5K early term fee but you're spending a rediculous amount of $ on that car! almost $900 a month Chat Icon

leasing is obviously not an option for you. If I were you, I would buy a Honda Civic. they get excellent gas mileage and they're very inexpensive (they start at around $15K). if that is too small for you, consider an Accord or Camry - which start at around $19-$20K and also get good MPG. even if you spend $12K on a used Camry or Accord, you will be WAY ahead of the game than if you kept your Pathfinder!!

and btw - thanks for the beers Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
