If starting cereal made a difference in your DC's sleeping...
How long before you saw the effects?
As you all probably know, Ryan is not the best sleeper He still wakes 2-3x / night. So, tomorrow we're starting cereal on his 5-month birthday. Any chance I'll/he'll be sleeping better tomorrow night?

Once DD started cereal, we didn't notice an immediate change in her sleep schedule. She still woke up once a night. But she only got it once a day, so its not like it made a huge difference.
I think once she was eating it 2x a day, she slept longer at night.

My ds sleeps better if he has oatmeal for dinner. Rice didn't make a difference. But even with the oatmeal he would sleep better from 8-12pm which didn't really help me sleep more .

We started Saturday night. No difference yet but I'm hoping it will kick in soon. I'll keep you updated. We do 2 tablespoons rice cereal morning and night as per doctors instructions.

We give rice cereal in all of DC's bottle for reflux in addition to feeding him with a spoon. It hasn't made any difference in his sleeping habits.

Cereal didn't help Christopher's sleep. I honestly think that is an old wives tale.
DS didn't sleep through the night without a bottle til he was 1 and we got rid of the bottles

We've been giving Megan cereal (only at night) for a couple of weeks now and sorry to disappoint, she still is up 1x/night. Maybe Ryan will cut it down to 1x versus 2x though!
Have fun giving him his first solids! Big day for Ryan! and mommy!

Re: If starting cereal made a difference in your DC's sleeping...
We noticed a difference! If I remember correctly (my brain is swiss cheese) Elizabeth started sleeping through the night after maybe a week or so of cereal and fruit, morning and evening.
I know she was sleeping through consistently by 5 months, and we started solids at 4 months.

WIth DS, he started and was sleeping good within a few nights. He started VERY early, at the age of 5 weeks, because the formula alone was not satisfying him.
Hope it helps!!
