If one more person tells me...

...…that I should get as much sleep as I can NOW because once the baby comes it’s over, I am going to go ape shyt! I swear to GOD!

Listen- I am fully aware that babies are up half the night. I have never experienced it, but I am a relatively intelligent adult. I am pretty sure I am aware that once the baby comes I won’t be sleeping for 12 hours at a clip any time soon!
However, even if I were to go into a coma now- and sleep for 24 hours until the baby arrives next month- it WON’T MATTER! You can’t bank sleep! It’s not cumulative.
Is that so hard to understand? I can sleep all I want now, it won’t make me feel any less exhausted when I’m up every 2 hours to feed her.

JEEZ!

Enough! Stop telling me this- I am nervous enough about the life change…can we just leave it??

you're right! you cannot bank sleep so what difference does it make how much sleep you get now!!

EVERYONE says that to me too - it definitely gets annoying!

lol i agree....i hate when people are like don't rush this time...life will get more hectic, and sleep now b/c you won't get any....

I get it. People have been having babies for centuries..

I have to remind myself never to give the same advice when I have kids to people who don't yet..lol

as a BTDT mom, I can't help myself from saying it to preggos allllllll the time.

I know you can't bank sleep, but, seriously sleeping in is like a long lost memory to me and my DS is 2 yrs old.

I always kinda thought that the whole not sleeping thing was just a newborn issue, but apparently most kids don't sleep late till they are teenagers.

So, from a BTDT mom, people who say that to you are only doing it bc they are so frikkin miserable and sleep deprived and completely jealous and long for the days where sleeping in or napping was actually an option, something you could choose to do or not do.

with a kid, not so much.

I feel your pain! The labor mafia at my job is known for this as well. The other day one of them was telling me this and had such a horrified look on her face that I burst out laughing. She got very serious, grabbed my hand and said "Oh, honey, I am not joking -- you will NEVER sleep like this again"

As if I listened to her, then I could do something about it. Like you said, if we could bank sleep - I would be fine until the baby's first birthday since I am even getting about nine hours on weekdays!!

I am hoping for the best, and anticipating the worst- but either way it's out of my control! I can't stand the know it alls!

My sister's kids sleep until 8AM no matter what time they go to bed. BUT my brother's kids. . . well, my brother came to our house late yesterday because my niece did not wake up until 11:30! LOL She is 4 now but has always been like this! They had to wake her up after 12 hours of sleep and she was so annoyed! She even complained about it when she showed up at my house like a teenager!

Hysterical....people tell you what to do from the very moment you get engaged...married, house, pregnant, just wait, once you have the baby, they'll ask for number two right away.

as a BTDT mom i can absolutely appreciate how precious sleep is....HOWEVER, having been on bed rest for the past 17 weeks, ppl do not seem to stop telling me that i should enjoy the rest now bc once the twins come i will never have time too.
ive been there, done that, and i had a baby that NEVER slept at night, so i fully understand how sleep deprived i will be once my LOs arrive.
but like you said, you cant bank sleep, so me being on bed rest and being stuck home, in bed all day is not exactly a "treat"!!!! its not like i will be less tired once they arrive bc i have been stuck in bed for the past 5 months

So true! I hear this ALL the time! I feel the same way, I am not an idiot, I know the babies will be awake a lot in the beginning, I get it...I don't need to keep hearing it!

one of dh's aunts this past weekend was telling me to sleep now and rest because once the baby comes i will never sleep again.

i actually responded its not like i can bank sleep. no matter how well i sleep in these next 6 weeks when the baby comes i will still be tired.

she responded you will regret that you didnt take the time to sleep now...you will see ....

i see this woman like once every 2-3 years....i just want to be left alone! people make this whole process such a negative experience...i know i will be tired, i get it...but nothing i do now will change or alter that fact once the baby comes....grrrr..i feel your pain!

Wait til they start telling you to get as much rest as you can in the hospital...that's a freakin JOKE! Between them checking vitals and bringing the baby to feed, I got 3 of the WORST nights sleep ever.

I wish you could bank sleep lol. That would be great!

OBVIOUSLY you know your life is going to be completely different, and no, you have no idea until you actually experience it - but isn't that true of ANYTHING ????

Everyone's ELSE's life is always SO much more difficult - I had a baby, but my cousin had TWINS - oh you CAN'T IMAGINE how MUCH HARDER it is ..........(which I'm sure it is .......but um, ok - how am I supposed to respond to that one?)

When he was born, it was oh just WAIT until he starts walking - YOU"LL see .......now it's oh you're so lucky, just WAIT til he starts TALKING - YOU"LL SEE ..........

And FORGET it about "you have it SO easy now, just WAIT FOR NUMBER 2 to come along"

OMG i could have written this. EVERYONE at work keeps telling me this and I am soooooo beyond sick of it. If I could "store it" then I can understand, but I cant so shut up.

Someone said this to me the other day and I responded with I will gladly take the sleep deprivation to not have to live in the pain that I am living in right now. Im dealing with extreme itchiness from Cholestasis and what I think is an extreme cause of carpal tunnel in both hands. One had that I feel like knives are being stuck into and the other that I haven't felt my fingertips for 3 weeks. So bring on the sleepless painless nights!
