If a dishwasher hasn't been used in years....
and you want to use it, should something special be done? I thought I read this once but not sure if i am recalling correctly. Should a plumber or someone knowledgeable check something to make sure all is in working order?

I would def take a look at all the electrical and water connections.
I would also run 1 cycle with nothing it it just to clean the lines. there might be old yucky water stuck in the lines.
