I think my 1 year old has his first fever.. need advice
My almost 13 month old son was super fussy the last hour before bedtime. He hasn't had a good poop (TMI) in a few days... just a medium amount each day that is the consistency of cream cheese and the rest are like little rabbit nuggets. He also is teething.... but something tells me the fever isn't from teething. It is something that is making him very fussy before we put him to bed..
Anyway - I have Pediacare and I remember my doc saying to wait until a fever reaches a certain temp before giving it to him and I can't remember what that was... any insight?
I go to Kids 1st Pediatrics... and his fever was 100.7
Thanks.

I would give a little Tylenol. 100.7 can definitely be from teething.

He fell asleep.. I shouldn't wake him, right? Should I see how he feels in the morning?

Don't wake him. I know it's scary. DS got his 1st fever at around 19 months and I freaked and then went into mommy mode. If the fever goes up he'll most likely wake up crying. Take his temp, rectally, and if it's 100.4 or higher, I would give him Motrin if you've given it before, especially if it's the middle of the night. I wouldn't put him back in the crib right away. I'd take off some of his clothes if he has layers (but not all) and maybe take a cool (not cold) washcloth and freshen up his face and maybe neck. I didn't put my DS back in bed until I was sure the motrin kicked in and his fever went down.
If he has fever during the day, I'd give him tylenol just because it only lasts 4 hours and then you can see if the fever goes up again, see how cranky he gets, etc.
GL! You'll be ok. Hope your little guy feels better soon.
