i need some tips on how to ween
dd off the pacifier... any suggestions? she is going to be 6 months soon..is that too early? i dont want her too attached to it..i know at this age they are supposed to be soothing themselves...thanks for your help!

A friend of mine said her friend gave it to the "Pacifier Fairy" and it worked perfectly - first I'd ever heard of that. Maybe someone else on the boards can explain???

It wouldn't work for a 6 month old. The Pacifier Fairy is when you leave the pacifier under their pillow & she leaves a present.
Honestly - I would do it cold turkey. She will thrash around, need to be patted & comforted, but it will pass in a much shorter period than if you wait.
My son was weaned at 20 months with a horrible case of cox sackie. It took 4 days of crankiness but we were done. He didn't subsitute a thumb or anything else as others have mentioned.

at about 6 months we only used it for naps and bedtime.
