I know I answered a question about flu symptoms...

Out of my 5 kids, my almost 3 yr old DD was the only one to get it. Her symptoms came on very suddenly. This was 3 weeks ago. Everyone has been healthy since. Her twin sister has been acting "off", but not sick, since Thursday night. Around 6:30, she asked to lay down on the couch and watch TV. She never does this. During her bath, she started saying her head hurt, and I noticed her nose was running. No fever. She slept well all night, and seemed fine when she woke up yesterday morning. The babysitter said that she played, ate a normal breakfast & lunch, didn't complain of a headache. Again, last night she became exhausted and asked to go to bed at 6 pm! We kept her up until 7:30, but it was very hard. She slept until 9 am this morning, and by 11, she told me she wanted to nap! She did get through the day, never a fever, she perked up and had more energy as the day went on. Didn't complain of a headache today, but when I was putting her to bed, I noticed her nose starting to run again, and the headache was back. What is going on? I feel like it would have come out as full blown flu by now. Maybe just the start of a cold? Not sure if I should take her to PM pediatrics tomorrow.

ETA she also has had a cough since Thursday night. It is not hacking, and not all day. But it is definitely noticeable.

Maybe it's not the flu. My house had a weird stomach thing that went through this week. The only common symptom was being very tired! Has she complained about her stomach at all?

Ds also has a cough from a cold. Same as you explained it too. I took him to the dr on Monday for it just to make sure and they said he was fine. That it could take 2 weeks for the cough to clear after the cold.

Thank you. No, she hasn't been complaining of stomach pains, and she has had a great appetite. She had seconds at dinner tonight. I am leaning towards taking her to PM pediatrics as soon as they open at 10 am tomorrow. DH thinks I am overreacting and since she has no fever and is generally acting ok, I should leave it alone.

Maybe she's fighting off a cold or even just a growth spurt. I think I'd wait it out but this flu season has had me running to the doctor at times I wouldn't normally so I get the urge to go in too.

I ended up taking her to PM pediatrics. With how bad the flu has been, it just made me feel better to take her. They said it was just a cold and to only bring her back if she developed a fever or started to act lethargic, or if her cough and congestion gets considerably worse. She's been acting pretty good today- hopefully it stays a mild cold.
