I just can't take it anymore!!
I am SO sick of working. Like really, I can't take it anymore!!
I like what I do, but I LOATHE the stress and the hours... I have been working my balls off pretty much the last two weeks. Major deliverables with crazy deadlines, and now I have to freakin go into the office on the weekend. DH has been away all week, and now I have to go into work Work is always busy, but it's been extra busy the past couple of months.
Yes, I make a nice salary-- but, it's just not enough for what I feel I give up-- and with the cost of living anyway, it doesn't get me that far.
I feel like life is passing me by... all I do is work, go to the gym.. and sit and veg out on the couch. Weekends go by in a flash and I continue to stress about all the things I need to get done since there is NO time or extra energy during the week.
I just can't handle working like this anymore and I don't know how to fix it.

Sorry!
If the money is that good, I would put a time limit to it - say work there for 1 more year and bank as muich money as possible - then take an "easier" job. I know, easier said than done!

It took me one year of working at a job that made me miserable but paid me hansomly to realize that I wanted happiness over money. Sometimes, the money really doesn't pay when you look at what you have to deal with for it.

do what I did - Have a baby and quit your job! lol...I wish it was that simple, but really...life is too short. Maybe you are better off finding a job you are happier with?

I tried that... the lower paying job didn't work out. They didn't win the business that I was slated to work on.. I ended up getting another job last summer and then left that company to work with the guy who hired me there at another place.
Due to extenuating circumstances, I have jumped around a bit-- been laid off, left to go to my current job, etc. My resume looks like I am non-committal, when the truth is, I have had some sh!tty situations handed to me.
I am stuck.

Re: I just can't take it anymore!!
i can sympathize.....i work so hard, its my life.....its good money, but i just don't think the stress is good for my body......im in the process of trying to make a change. i thought about going part time at my job as an option to continue my work but try to lessen the stress, but my boss shot that down. at this point i think my only option is to quit & find a new job. i wish you the best of luck with your decision

Re: I just can't take it anymore!!
I agree with Julz. It's good that you're doing it now when you're young with no kids. Hopefully by the time you have kids, you'll be able to do something else not so time consuming. It must be hard feeling like your life is so consumed by work. I just had a soul searching session on the balcony and was thinking about how I never really persued my career dreams (at least I haven't yet) and part of the reason is I felt I'd end up working all the time and didn't want that. (plus the school part is very pricey) As long as you love what you do and you're happy it's great. I hope the working weekends don't last too long.

I wish I could!
I make a bit more money than DH and I told him when we have a kid, I want the flexibility to take 6 months to a year off if that's what I want to do. I am trying to squirrel away as much as possible.. but I still like to spend money here and there.
Either way, I need to continue to work til I had a kid. There is NO way I could do this with a baby.

I work like 10 hours every day... and I eat lunch at my desk!
Granted, every day is not totally nuts, but whatever.
Last week, I worked over 30 hours before it was Wednesday!!
Honestly, I should just get pregnant already and not go back when the baby comes.... I am so worried about how the hell I will deal when that point in my life comes. I think that is why this is bothering me so much.

Well when that time comes....its simple...the baby is priority and work will have to be placed on the back burner as hard as that will be. Your heatlh and the babies comes first...

As long as you see yourself as stuck, you will be. It's extremely difficult and painful to get out of a bad work situtaion but it starts with a "can do" attitude. To get out, you first have to believe you can and will. As long as you keep saying and feeling stuck, you won't be able to see the options. There are ALWAYS options

while I totally appreciate that sentiment.. I cannot really change jobs right now, when we also plan to TTC very shortly.
I am just very annoyed and bitter right now.. I am not always miserable.. but, I just have to remember it's not forever.

I feel the same exact way! Not sure what I am going to do when the baby comes. The earliest I get home is 7pm and then I work for another 3-4 hours at home. It stinks.
If I quit, we could survive but I would probably be miserable having to watch every penny. It's like a no win situation.

Re: I just can't take it anymore!!
Tough situation and I can empathize with you...
I currently work a minimum 53 hours a week. Thats 6:45am-5:00pm Monday-Friday, no lunch...no breaks period! My commute is typically 20 minutes there (I leave my house at about 6:15) and almost a hour home...darn LI traffic!
It most definitely gets overwhelming as well as physically and mentally draining.
I just keep telling myself there is a light at the end of the tunnel and one of these days I'll reach it!
Unfortunately, I don't have any advice to offer as I am in a similar situation.
But try to keep it together as best as you could, things usually have a way of working themselves out.
