I hope this cycle isn't a bust already! Update

I am CD11 today of my first Clomid/ IUI cycle. I have 3 follies around 15-16 and a bunch of smaller ones, but my lining is really thin, like around 3.5Chat Icon They told me that my LH has started to pick up a little, does this mean that I may ovulate before the trigger shot? I got a call from the RE telling me that we will discuss options tomorrow after they check my blood/sono again. Is it too late to start meds to increase my lining for this cycle? Does this happen a lot on Clomid? We are paying for everything OOP so I don't want to go ahead with the IUI if it doesn't look promising. I know they will tell me my options tomorrow, but I can't seem to stop stressing over the fact that this cycle may be a bust already!

Update- I went in for more bloodwork/sono yesterday at CD12 and my lining was almost at 6, so that's getting better. They are also a bit concerned with the number of follies, since there were 4 around 16-17. I'm going in tomorrow to see if they are all still growing of if any dropped off, and then to decide if we should do the IUI this cycle. My LH isn't surging yet, so that's good. I did ask about Femara and Estrogen for my lining. He said we need to look into the reasons for the thin lining first.

I would think there is still a chance. I had an u/s on CD 12 and my largest follie was only 12.4 but on CD 17 it was 18.8. I triggered last night (CD 19). So, 15 and 16 at CD11 are larger than mine were!

I "get" the skipping IUI feeling. Our Insurance changed last week (DH got new job) and now we're not getting any fertility coverage. IUI would have been this morning but we decided to skip and just BD this morning instead. His counts are great and we've been preggo 3 times (2 m/c and one Chat Icon ) so I feel like ovulating is my issue, not the Chat Icon . We'll see what happens...

Good Luck! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

ETA: my lining was 5.5 on CD17 so I'm taking estradiol suppositories to help thicken it.

I am not sure how quickly something could start to help thicken your lining, BUT Clomid is notorious for thinning out the uterine lining and decreasing CM. You may want to ask your RE about Femara if Clomid is going to have a negative impact on your lining. GL!

i agree with the PP. if you already have lining issues (which it sounds like you might - its very common), then clomid just exacerbates the problem. femara is a better option IMO.

as far as linings go - with follies at 15-16 your estrogen should be picking up and your lining should continue to thicken although it should be thicker by now. i know theres estrace and other estrogen based supplements that are used to help lining close to IUI. i believe most RE's like to see the lining at least an 8 for optimal cycles, and above a 6 is crucial. but it can catch up quickly as your estrogen levels rise.

good luck!

I'm not sure about the meds to thicken the lining, but I agree with the Femara. Clomid was thinning my lining too so now I'm switching (7.5 - 6.5). Femara was $230/month (for just 10 tiny pillsChat Icon ) because my ins wouldn't cover it.

My RE prescribed me a 30 pill script (3 mo supply) and I used this coupon for FREE!

Free Femara

Good luck!
