I have my big sono this afternoon
We are not going to find out the sex of the baby. What can I expect to happen/see with this sono. I am so excited to see my little bean again

Re: I have my big sono this afternoon
Well, if this is your Level II, they are going to take all kinds of measurements. So be prepared to see lots of your little bean. They will measure the head, the legs, the stomach, look at the heart, all sorts of things. Make sure you tell them that you do not want to know the sex!
Have fun!!!!

I am not sure if this is considered my level 2. When I saw the doctor last he said I would only get a level 2 if my AFP came back bad. But why else would I get a sono, right? I am so confused since I think they do things differently here in NC.

The sono tech will go through the body...brain, spine, cord, limbs, ect. She will ask if you want to know and when you tell her no she will stay away from that area. Good luck!!!

Re: I have my big sono this afternoon
It's a full anatomy scan. You'll get great shots of the baby. They take measurements of all of the organs, arms, legs, etc. They check for things you probably wouldn't even think of..like a cleft palate. It's a very cool sono!
Good luck!

The Level II is what I called my 20 week ultrasound. It is a standard sonogram from what I know, called the growth sonogram like another girl posted. I'm sure that is what this is and they will take lots of measurements, check to make sure they see all 4 ventricals of the heart and lots more! Have fun!!!

Re: I have my big sono this afternoon
I'm back. What a great sono. I saw so many body parts and organs. It was so cool! I have to go back for another one since she couldn't get a good picture of the bottom of the spine and butt because the baby was so low down in my belly. She said it was nothing to worry about, she just needed to get a pic of that. It means I get another sono though

Re: I have my big sono this afternoon
where do you live in NC? i live here too
i had a sono at 8 weeks to confirm the pregnancy, and then another at 12 weeks for the ultrascreen. then at 19 weeks i had the "anatomy scan". it's a regular sono, and they basically look at all the organs and limbs and measure them and make sure that everything is ok. and, if you want, they can also tell you the gender at that time, but if not they'll just skip around those parts.
