I have a monster-in-law!!!!!

So, some of you know the issues I have been having with my MIL... She's overbearing and tries to be very controlling. I think she has forgotten that this is my and DH's baby, not hers.

So to start, she practically had a stroke when I told her we have changed the spelling of the babys name to Giana, instead of Gianna. She yelled at me and it became a big to-do. DH thinks it looks better with our last name... I mean really, who am I to say anything. If THAT makes him happy, one N it is! I'm a lucky girl that he even notices or cares.

Then, since BRU stinks, I changed my bottles from Dr Browns to Born Free. Not because of the BPA issues, just because they havent been available on the website and I was afraid I was going to end up with no bottles. So she messaged me asking what my problem is and why I can't just leave MY registry alone. Chat Icon Are you kidding me? If I want to delete everything off and leave one bib I will Chat Icon

THEN, she notices that I changed my bedding set. We originally picked something really neutral, but then DH said he thought we should pick something 'super cute' (his words) for our Chat Icon . So i changed it. She complained about that too. I'm so annoyed. As it is she's not even coming to my shower because she doesn't like where it is being held ( Irish Coffee Pub).

And I dont even care. I'm just so sick of her comments and questioning everything I do. DH is in the army and away training for Iraq, so the last thing I need is this PITA bothering me every minute about things she needs to shut her mouth about!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ugh.. vent over. Thank you. She's im'ing me while i'm on here, and I either posted on here, or yelled at her!! Chat Icon I think I made a good choice!

Re: I have a monster-in-law!!!!!

i can totally relate. my MIL started in on me just the other day about the stroller I put on my registry. she asked me why i'm not getting a feminine stroller "like all the girls she sees". Chat Icon i told her i did a lot of research and this is the one we want, but she keeps going on about the travel systems and how good they look. i tell her they are very heavy and that we're just going to use a frame and the infant car seat for the first 6 months so then she starts in about wanting to get us something we need and it doesn't seem like we need the stroller. i was like, uh, we'll need it eventually! geez louise!

I sympathize with you! Mine's a real PITA too. My MIL yelled at my DH this week for not calling her, meanwhile the talk every other day, and she told him she should be his first priority. Well, she has him all to herself today because he drove her to a family party out of state, and I can't take long car trips these days. This is me because I don't have to spend the day with her or hear her mouthChat Icon !

First, I can't believe that you MIL is not coming to your shower just because she does not like the place. That is crazy. Did anyone say anything to her about this?

I am sorry you have to go through all this while you are pregnant. Try to ignore her as much as you can.
Who cares what she thinks about the name. It is your baby. I remember I changed my registry a million times. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: I have a monster-in-law!!!!!

I did confront her about not going and basically she sees nothing wrong with it bc she already sent us our shower gift. She missed the whole point that i don't care about the gifts, I just wanted her to be there, but not anymore!

She's jealous that my mom planned it, I guess she felt she should have more of a say... but if my mom and dad are paying, they SHOULD be the ones making those decisions! Ugh....
