I HATE my insurance , HATE throwing up TOO!
Im freaking out here.
I take Zofran 3 times a day. On it I still throw up like 1-4 times a day on a bad day.
Without it, I throw up everything I put in my mouth.
So I take it ( as PRECRIBED) 3 times a day.
So yesterday I call to get a refill, I had 3 left at lunch time yesterday and the pharmacy says its too soon? Huh? it was 13 days since I filled it and at 3 a day I should have technically been up in 10 days.
I call Oxford and they say the policy is 30 pills over 23 days.  Thast less then 1 and 1/2 a day.
I explain I take 3 a day and without them, Im afraid I will be in the hospital, costing THEM more anyway.
Of course ( I work for insurance , I get it)...they dont care.
so they say the Dr can request an authorization for a higher quantity.
WHY AM I BEING told this on a Friday at lunch time of a holiday weekend and not when I FILLED the RX?
So the Dr's office tries and they are told for a 3 day Prescription, Oxford has to approve it, it takes 24 business hours, should be able to get the Rx by TUESDAY night.
The Dr's office says just buy some from the pharmacy to hold you over.
I call..they are over $30 a PILL and for 10 its $323!
I dont HAVE that kind of money and oxford sayis " if approved" I would get reimbursed in 30 business days ( 2 months)
So now Im terrified to eat or drink anything 
Great New years to come....
Sorry so long I just really had to vent that out. Thanks for listening.

That's a disgrace!!!!  I'm so sorry, sweetie.
Insurance companies made me so mad! And the pharmacies don't help!!!
Do you think your doctor has any samples to give you?

No samples of a pill like this. Its technically a drug used in Chemo and SOO much $$

That blows big time-I know how you feel -LITERALLY
Has your doc tried Reglan in pump form-sometimes different drugs are covered but just as effective.
I was on bedrest my entire pregnancy due to throwing up "EVERYTHING" and the only thing that worked was the reglan pump..talk to your doc-maybe that would be something the insurance company would pay for?????

I know how you feel... my pharmacist screwed me up once and didnt have enough Zofran to fill a full prescription, so I had to come back several times to get all 20 (I was only alloted 20 at a time with my plan) - and because of the dates, when I went to refill again, they also told me I needed to wait - I made them get into the computer and see they staggered the 20 I was owed - but otherwise, I would have been in the same boat as you!!!

i'm so sorry.. can u get a higher dosage? maybe that will help you more... i know how you feel.. it;s absolutely draining!! i really feel for ya!!!
i went through it for 3 months and it just started to come back... but i take one in the am (6am) with a piece of food and i'm fine the rest of the day..
good thing to think of though... your most likely having a girl... % say most women with really bad am sickness has a girl...

The pills didnt work for me...I was sick 24/7 and couldnt keep anything down and I didnt have an appetite. I ended getting dehydrated and had to go to the hospital and get an IV...I felt 100 times better as soon as the IV started.....Just to be on the safe side, I had a permanent IV in my arm for about 3 months....and that is when the nausea and vomiting went away...Talk to your dr and ask about the IV...
Feel better...

I am fuming for you Donna!!! insurances are great until you actually need them and all of a sudden you find out you cant do this, we dont cover that, it is alll a big business they dont really care about you.... ok vent over!

That really sucks, i hate insurance companies, you work so that you have the insurance and then they dont want to give you anything. My chiropractor has to write a book to get approval for me to see him every three weeks. Too many rules and regulations to try to follow, i think they make it hard so everyone will give up from the frustration

Not too bad today. Took one this am...And have been very " on the edge" but ate a small bagel and some soup and some pretzels today and am OK So far

I wish my dad didnt throw out my mom's Zofran. She took it while going through chemo and had some pills left over, but he threw everything out

I just went searching too because my dad was taking them when he was going through chemo but they're long gone. Sorry.
