I'm actually NOT a fan of FRER (always was... until I actually got my BFP!) with FMU...
Have you tried using non-FMU?? Hold your pee for 3 hours and then take the test.... or try a first response gold digital (the yes/no kind)... those worked much better for me!
I had a similar situation where I took an FRER test, looked in the trash hours later and then saw a faint line. So I took a FRER yes/no and it came up YES+ right away!! The next morning I took another FRER regular line test and it was still SUPER faint! I think I might have pics in my blog if you want to look/compare.

Maybeamommy- you are so great!!!!!!! I got the gold test and finally got a real "yes"!!!!!!!!! I know nothing is for sure until the beta (and then seeing it double, then seeing the sac, then hearing the heartbeat, etc, etc) but we are so thrilled that this cycle has made it further than the last cycle: on some level, it worked!!!!!!!
