I feel like we're regressing...
It's so frustrating. He used to go to bed so well. I've had to resort to Ferber again the past few nights. He's EXHAUSTED when I lay him down, to the point where he can barely keep his eyes open, yet he's bawling his eyes out right now. I hate having to do this all over again.

Sometimes when a baby is that tired it is really hard for them to fall asleep..maybe try to start bedtime a bit earlier. It is almost as if they get soo overtired that going to sleep is very hard.

No advice but I know bedtime and sleep is the worst struggle.

Thanks. I've actually been putting him in a lot earlier. For the longest time, he was going in at 10. Lately, 9's been working the best for him. He's been incredibly cranky the past few nights though, so I've tried putting him at 8:30, but he just won't have it.

Re: I feel like we're regressing...
Can you try earlier than 8:30pm? Only reason I ask is that we were having the same problem with Alex. At first we were putting her to bed around 10pm. Then 8:30pm and we were still having problems. We finally discovered that her bedtime is 7-7:30pm and if we go any later than that all hell breaks loose. We've also noticed with her that she needs a nap every 2 hours. So, her last nap is at 4:30-5pm. Up for 2 hours and then bedtime. If we go even a minute past the 2 hour mark, she hits the zone where it's virtually impossible to get her to sleep even if she's exhausted...

OK - this is getting SO scary Beth - Joseph is the EXACT same way! 2 hour harry over here. Naps are virtually impossible if we go over that and bedtime still works but he's too tired to drink his bottle which then leads to waking every 2 hours.
I know what you mean about the regressing though - I feel like we establish a good routine and everything goes good for a day or 2 and then WHAMMO - it's like he's a different kid. It can be so frustrating!

I'm telling you, these kids are soulmates! Well, as long as Joseph is into cranky, chubby, sleep-deprived little girls
