I bought salted butter when the recipe calls for unsalted butter. It also calls for 1/8 tsp of salt. Could I just use the salted butter and omit the extra salt?

Also I got semi sweet chocolate when the recipe calls for bittersweet. You think that's ok? From what I read, its not much of a taste difference.

I've used salted butter instead of unsalted AND the wrong chocolate chip in different recipes and they have turned out fine.

Ditto. I actually just Chat Icon whenever something calls for unsalted butter and then salt. I almost exclusively use salted butter. And same goes for chocolate chip- that's interchangeable depending on how sweet you want it.

It's fine. Just omit the salt because you already have it and don't worry about the chocolate - that's just a preference so if you like one over the other (or buuy a different one), it's perfectly okay.

Yup, what everyone else said. Just leave out the salt. As for the chocolate, there's never anything wrong with changing out types of chocolate depending on your tastes Chat Icon
