I bought a hanging plant from HD... WEEK 3 UPDATE
... and this is what it looks like today:
Can I return it and get my money back? I realize that plants die when they're not cared for well, but, it's only been 3 days!
Update - 24 hours and 3 waterings later:
I'll try the Miracle-Gro with my 2nd watering tonight and post again tomorrow! This is an interesting experiment, I like it!
DAY 3: I'm feeling like Dr. Frankenstein here, trying to raise a plant from the dead. I was so sure she was a goner! But here we are on Day 3, after watering it twice a day and using a little Miracle-Gro yesterday:
Day 4: The overall plant looks pretty much the same, but look what I found in the back. It's alive!
Here we are about a week and a half later. I've been watering it twice a day and pulled off all the dead leaves. So it looks pretty bare, but what's there is doing great! Look how many full pink flowers there are!

Just water the hell out of it! I have the exact same plants and I thought mine died as well but I have to drench it everyday for it to stay looking nice.
I am telling you go water the hell out of it now and by morning it will be perfect!

mine looked like that yesterday too, I watered it and in a few hours it was all better. amazing I tell ya!

BWAAHHHHHHH!!! i betcha when you bought your camera or phone you'd never have thought you'd be photographing a weeping, sad-looking thing like that!
haha! i am sorry to laugh! but, that was really funny to me.
i agree, water it and keep micracle grow on hand for things like this.
I LOVE miracle grow. i typically only use it in emergencies such as yours but boy, it works!

Just my opinion, but I wouldn't fertilize an already stressed plant. You need to find a way to provide it with the moisture it needs, being in a pot and drying out fast in this heat. Is it a New Guinea Impatiens? Mine used to dry out in hours. I finally started repotting them, mixing in peat moss, putting more moss on the dirt surface, watering twice a day, or putting one of those self watering bulb things in it.

Greenfreak, I don't know what it is. I picked it up on a whim at Home Depot last week because it had a tag advertising on it that it was in a special pot with special features that allow you to water it only once a week (!!!!!). "Aqualock." Figured that would be great when we go on mini-vacations this summer.
Oops, I already did the Miracle-Gro last night. I have a few healthy-looking flowers and the rest are all still flopped over.

A little bit of false advertising on the part of HD ......
It does look like a New Guinea Impatien, and they need a lot of water.
Don't fertilize again until it becomes healthy, then use the Miracle Gro water soluble formula. It's balanced so you really can't overfeed and burn the roots, just follow the instructions on the box.
Off the top of my head I can't remember what type of light New Guinea's need.
A little TLC and it should be fine.

Those have to be watered and watered and watered especially in the heat!
Make sure you see water coming out of the bottom then you have watered it enough. On hot days 2x a day.

looking much better, I think some of the dead leaves are goners though, you should be able to clean it up now and get rid of those. But looks good!

Should I pull off the dead leaves? I'm afraid of pulling off the ones that are merely still dried out, and hurting it. I mean, 4 days ago I was ready to throw this in the trash! I have no idea what I'm doing.
Thanks for the help and the encouragement. I had given up on this little guy and now I run home every day excited to see how it's doing. I'm learning so much!

Okay, thanks. I just grazed the plant with my fingertips and the dead leaves fell off. Anything that resisted to a tiny little tug, I left on there. Can't wait to see how it looks tomorrow...

Looking better! I see you have the nurturing bug now. Watch out... you could wind up saving more plants.
