I am attempting to sew something and I need advice. (POLL)

I have a strapless bridesmaid gown in light blue. No wrap or jacket with it. I found some fabulous lace that I can sew a 'shrug' into and it matches the dress. (All of us found our own shrugs or jackets, so nobody matches and we aren't planning on wearing them in the church or for pictures.) I plan on wearing mine at the reception, so lace will let me breathe, while covering up my arms. (I never let my arms out in public.)

My questions are: Do I make it long sleeve or 3/4 length sleeves? Or do i have to stay with short sleeves? If short, I want it to go to nearly my elbow. I was thinking long, but I see a lot of the shrugs and jackwets out there are short or 3/4 length. What is trendy and formal? Should I let it drape over my boobs, or more into my armpit? (Pics below explain it more)
