HSG Experience...

So I had my HSG today as planned... It was truly the most awful thing I have ever had to go through! I would compare it to the 1 internal exam I had at 39 weeks while preg with ds and not dialated at all...my OB and i agreed we wouldn't do that ever again after the tears of pain it brought to my eyes...the HSG was just about as bad...

Apparantely I have a VERY HIGH cervix which made it incredibly hard to get the catheter through...the radiologist said he could only see so far. My uterus is tilted forward which physically gets in the way... This is the first time I have been told by ANYONE about the high cervix and tilted uterus so either the radiologist was dumb or all my dr's are? Could this be contributing to our TTC issues?

The nurse at the radiology place was wonderful but the exam itself was true torture. I tried to prepare myself for the worst but as I was getting changed the nurse mentioned that the exam is usually somewhat easier on those that have had vag deliveries (which i had with ds) so I got my hopes up there for a bit and was then shocked back to reality with pain!

I have been taking motrin and advil today to take the edge off but I am still cramping pretty bad and bleeding (not spotting)...

So my experience with the HSG was prob the worst of the worst from the stories I have heard on here but just thought I would share and ask for advice on what could be physical reasons for our TTC issues...

Thanks ladies!

Gosh, I'm sorry you had such a terrible experience!

Mine was no walk in the park, but definitely not excruciating pain or anything.

Hopefully the results will give your RE some ideas for a good plan for you!

Re: HSG Experience...

Gosh I am so sorry! That must have been terrible. I was so so worried about having one that I delayed it for a few months. But once I had it, I actually found it to be painless (albeit somewhat uncomfortable). Perhaps, it was because my tubes were not blocked. On the other hand, I found the water sono to be very painful! I guess everyone's anatomy dictates the pain that occurs.

At least, you got it over with!
