How'd you know

I always wanted my kids to be close in age. By the time ds1 was 1 1/2 yrs old, we were ready to try for another baby and after a month it happened. We'd like to have 1 more, and once ds2 is 1 1/2 to 2 yrs old, we're gonna try again.

How'd you know

DS is now 2 and I feel ready to try for another. He is much more self sufficient. I know I couldn't have handled two babies close in age. With that said, we won't be trying til next summer.

Re: How'd you know

I wanted them close in age and I wasn't getting any younger. LOL!

I got pregnant with DS2 when DS1 was 16 months old. We also just moved into a bigger home.

They are 2 years apart and sometimes the best of friends... other times not so much. LOL! They do always have each other and are always playing together.

How'd you know

Still not ready... Don't think I'll ever be ready... I'm thinking I might get some empty nest syndrome when she goes off to kindergarten but I don't know if that's a good reason to have another (we'll have the same problem another 5 years down the road Chat Icon)

We knew before our first was born that we would try to have our 2nd when Dd was about 2-they'll end up being about 27 months apart. Well aim for about the same age difference with our 3rd, same if we go for the 4th

How'd you know

I am still not ready and DS is 7 months. DD is 2.5 and took us 2 years to conceive with fertility help. I stopped nursing her and a month later I was pregnant again. Shocked to say the least since I was pretty much one and done. Now I have them so close, its fun but sometimes it really rough!

How'd you know

You know it gave me anxiety to "plan" number 2, in my mind we were going to wait another year but one night we threw caution to the wind and got lucky. I am glad that it worked out that way for us bc planning the perfect time isn't possible lol Our kids are 3 yrs apart.

Exactly this. I couldn't really imagine having a 2nd child until very recently. We are hoping to start trying again in February. We dealt with infertility so even though we may not be "ready" I don't want to wait much longer in case it takes us a long time to conceive again.

How'd you know

I have twin girls and I knew I wanted to wait until they were 3 to start trying. Well IVF didn't work too quickly this time and they will be almost 5 when the new baby is born. I am happy with it though. They will be in Kindergarten and I will have two little helpers who also won't be home all day. Works out well for me.

I was pretty certain from the beginning that I was one and done--DD is 2 years and 3 months and I am certain I am DONE. I turn 40 in 2 weeks and I cannot imagine starting all over again.

Re: How'd you know

I wasn't ready to try for another until DD was 2 1/2. Before then, I really went back and forth with the idea of having another at all. Now, just recently pregnant with #2 I'm a little terrified. Chat Icon

I always assumed I'd have 2 close together in age. Then after 9 months of zofran so I didn't die of malnutrition followed by a baby who screamed like a maniac for the first 3 months of life I decided ehhh, better not.

So I'm firmly in the camp of when you know, you know!

Re: How'd you know

Just a strong feeling of being ready to do it all over again. As my first approached a year old, I started to want another & they're 21 months apart. Now #2 is 14 months old & I've been feeling it again for the past few months so will be ttc soon.

Re: How'd you know

Considering that my 13 month old twins still sleep like Sh!t....it's hard to imagine adding a 3rd. Realistically I wanted to try again when the twins are 2 1/2 but i don't know. We'll have to see when the time comes. We have a three bedroom apt. and the twins are sharing a room so we can manage in our current place. My parents currently watch my girls while DH and I work. I think the best thing would be to wait til the twins are in school (Pre K at least) before adding another.

Timing, and feeling. I was ready when DD was about 9-10 months old. It just took 2 years from that point to happen.

We told EVERYONE we weren't having a second so that it took the pressure off with people asking. Then it was on our terms. Our health was ok, we were strong in our marriage, our son will be 3 next week and I'm 15 weeks tomorrow. We just threw caution to the wind and were just having fun with it.

My thing is, if I questioned if we were ready, then I didn't think we were ready.
