How to tell when WAS ovulation time?

I heard its very hard to predict what day exactly ovulation will occur.

It could be 10 days after the woman's period, or 14 days or even 22 days.

But I heard someone say that its very easy to tell when it was, based upon when the period starts.

Is this true?

If so, how can I tell?

Count 5 days back from when the period starts? 7 days? 10 days?

Thank you

How to tell when WAS ovulation time?

I follow the 14 day rule based on an average 28 day cycle. Also, I pay very close attention to my body, as I have always been able to "tell" that ovulation (be it the eggs release, or just that it was impending) was going to occur.

Now, ask me what kind of schedule to follow duing the O period, and I'm clueless. I just try to do it as much as I can!

Temping. That's the only way unless you know how long your Luteal Phase is. Everyone is different so you can't count backwards.

For Ex: My LP is 12 days. AF came on CD36 for me so I should have O'ed on CD24. Looking at my chart, I did in fact O on CD24.

Exactly my lp was only 10 days so that method would not work...and I was able to find how long my lp was by temping

ITA. You can also use an OPK which will help approximate when you will ovulate. There's no real accurate way to gauge when you did O after the fact unless you get a blood test.
