HOw to help a child that is suddenly very afraid of dogs?
My DD used to LOVE dogs, then one day a stray came into our yard. He was big, friendly and very playful but the kids that were playing with Hannah got very scared and think that's the cause. We went to visit my mom and cousin today and they both have dogs. She cried the whole time. What can I do? She knows my mom's dog and he's little and friendly but she was still upset. Help!!

I would hold her & let her pet a friendly dog until she was comfortable. It could be just a phase for now.

a similar thing happened to friends of ours. Her son was maybe 2 when a stray came into their house!  He is 6 now and is still deathly afraid of dogs. But knowing that he was scared, they always avoided seeing them and going places where there was dogs. If they went to someones house who had a dog , they asked the owner to put the dog away. So the situation was always avoided.
Maybe if you just keep exposing her to dogs it will pass???
