Re: how stressful was it for you buying a house?
I'm weird...I enjoyed it! I looked online constantly, had a great real estate agent and a great mortage guy...found a house on my first day looking...that one didn't work out (was a short sale)...went out another time and found our house. Everything with this house went sooo smooth.

Re: how stressful was it for you buying a house?
i honestly didnt find it to be HORRIBLE... you just need to get your price range and narrow your areas down and then focus on what you want in a house
its a long process yes, but as my DH said throughout the whole thing, "we arent buying a pizza"
good luck!

Re: how stressful was it for you buying a house?
it was double stressful b/c i was planning a wedding and looking for a house! We actually closed on our house 2 weeks b/4 our wedding
One thing i tell DH all the time, if i had to do it again, i would so not close on a house so close to the wedding!

Re: how stressful was it for you buying a house?
I really liked house hunting, for the FIRST few months, then it became a annoying and stessful. The actually "buying" -negotiating price, going into contract, inspection, moving painting, yeah those parts are really pretty terrible. It doesn't last forever, and you have to take it one step at a time or you will totally overwhelm yourself.!!! Best of luck to you! Oh, and in the end, it’s ALL worth it!!

Re: how stressful was it for you buying a house?
The first time was awful, just because there are so many unknowns and the process is so unfamiliar.
Second time was a BREEZE!
Good luck!

Re: how stressful was it for you buying a house?
I didn't love it. At first it wasn't so back, but after awhile looking for a house, after house, after house - then it became annoying. You do find what you are looking for at some point and some find it right away. It all depends what you are looking for in a home and where you are looking. GL it doesn't last forever. Then comes fixing up the house - fun, fun, fun!

Re: how stressful was it for you buying a house?
it was VERY stressful and it freakin took 6 months to close!!
But now that I've been in the house a month and a half, it was worth every tear I cried and every sleepless night (and there were many)!!
So don't worry, its so normal!! hang in there, its worth it in the end!
And I said the same thing, this better be our forever home because I never want to do it again, but I'm sure I will

Re: how stressful was it for you buying a house?
I didn't think it was stressful just annoying when they asked 15 million times for the same documents. It got stressful when our interest rate was going to be up and we still didn't have a closing date. DH was more stressed about it than I was.

Re: how stressful was it for you buying a house?
i LOVED looking at the MLS, looking at houses in person, i still look on the MLS i really enjoyed that part of house hunting.
we looked in a competitive market and had a hard time getting an offer accepted. we made lots of offers. rejected numerous times. waited on a short sale for 5 months for nothing. the process beyond looking at the houses was absolute torture for us. plus there was the stress of traveling down for inspection and closing since we bought of state.
totally worth it though

Re: how stressful was it for you buying a house?
It was the most horrible experience of my life. (But I haven't had so bad of a life! LOL)
To make it worse I was pregnant so I couldn't drink to make it go away!
Honestly, nothing "out of the ordinary" either - just the normal stress of it all. I hope it gets better for you!
And PS, you will have to carry me out of this house b/c I am never buying another one I am going to be like the little old man in Up, with all the huge buildings around me in 60 years. . .

Re: how stressful was it for you buying a house?
It was horrible. Finding the house was fairly easy but the mortgage process was so ridiculous. Yes, you're approved. No, you're not. Yes, you are. No, you're not. Back and forth for months. I was a nervous wreck.

It was very stressful and in hindsight, we had a great experience! It made wedding planning seem like something we could do in our sleep.

Re: how stressful was it for you buying a house?
The actual buying of the house was not a big deal but trying to close was a PITA because our seller was horrible and kept refusing to close until we threatened to sue. The part that made it difficult is we were moving from Boston to LI and I only had 3 months in the corporate apartment so we had to rush and select a house in roughly 3 weeks. Our seller agreed to close by end of Feb, then changed the contract at the last minute to "on or about" after she'd agreed to an absolute at first, then after the end of March came without any cooperation to set the date our lawyer said it would be April 15th or we would sue for the closing. She flipped out and finally closed the end of April. We later found out from neighbors that she was really upset because she thought she should have been allowed to stay until the end of June after her kids were out of school. She was just awful and that was the stressful part. That and having to commute from Queens to Bayport for two months while I lived with DH's grandmother after I had to vacate the corporate apartment because it had been promised to someone else.

Re: how stressful was it for you buying a house?
Looking at houses was fun but the mortgage part was stressful. Everyday up until the closing they would call me with a million more documents and things I had to do before closing. Meanwhile they had my paperwork for weeks and always waited until the last minute!

It was more stressful than getting married and having a baby COMBINED.
