How old is too old for Christmas Card photos?
Since my kids are older (teens), I was wondering if they are getting too old for Christmas card photos? They are 12 and 16.
For what its worth, I always try to make the card funny since they are older and its awkward to just pose them near the tree. Last years card was a few of their stolen selfies off the phones, and it said "Have your "selfie" a merry little Christmas".
Should I just send a photo of the dog this year??

Uhh my aunt stills sends photo cards of my college-aged cousins posing. I can't see continuing once they become teenagers or even pre-teens

I get pics of a few teens/college age kids. Some of them use family pics which I like too. Heck, dh and I sent photo cards before Dd was born.
Then again, I love getting Xmas cards. I save all of the photo ones, and punch a hole in the corner/store them on a binder ring. I then display them and look through them each year. It's fun to see kids/families grow.

My sister uses vacation photos for the 14 and 17 year olds. No posing by the tree pics.

I agree, I love getting photo cards no matter what age. It's fun to see kids grow & change each year! And that selfie card sounds so cute!

I'd leave it up to them. My moms old coworker sent cards with her adult kids 2 are married now. I think it's a little weird.

I like this and I have a cousin with teenagers who does this REALLY well. Cute, casual pic of her kids on the front and the back of the card is a picture of her kids from several years prior with the year printed. It's adorable without being cheesy.

I posed for my mom's Christmas cards until I was married. There are 4 kids and we used to take some funny pictures because it was weird to have kids 24, 23, 19, & 14 posing seriously!

My coworker uses random selfie.pics of her kids or pics from vacations. I love them. No matter how old you are I think you should always send photo cards. I love seeing everyone's smiling faces.

How old is too old for Christmas Card photos?
I know a family - they have 3 grown children. Grown ! Grown ups. A couple of the grown up children have SOs.
And every year? Yep. Photo of the parents and the 3 grown kids. No SOs in picture. It's almost like they are emotionally stunted when it comes to holiday photos.
I say live and let live and do as you wish.
I think that's a little lame but no one should care what I think
So I say go for it!

My mom sends a pictures card every year and we are all grown. This year it is one picture of DH and me, one of my sister and me and one of my parents when they were on vacation. I say if you have the picture do it who cares.

this made me laugh, your worried pictures of your kids on cards for the holidays would look funny, but sending one of the dog would be ok..
FYI, I think its cute I am not making fun. Send one with the kids and dog to make it complete.

I think a more scenic shot with your older kids in it would be really nice - like one of them at a Christmas Tree farm or on a pier near the ocean... I plan on doing one of those next year because my boys (6 and 5) are already "over" doing holiday pics!

Re: How old is too old for Christmas Card photos?
Unless there is a special occasion to warrant a really nice family photo, I'd say by teenage years (13-14 ish) is quite enough.

Re: How old is too old for Christmas Card photos?
I do non-traditional cards/poses with DC. DS is 12 and DD is 9. This is our 2015 double-sided card.
I plan on doing these types of cards as long as DC are still living with me, and hopefully after that, too. Image Attachment(s):

I think it's enough when the kids don't want to do the pictures anymore (I'm guessing teen years).

Re: How old is too old for Christmas Card photos?
I personally think there is no such thing as too old. I mean, if they are posed Christmas pics, like Picture People or JC Penny etc. then yes, teenagers and older might look silly. But if they are candid or family shots and done well, I think you can do them always.
I personally prefer to get a picture card of just about anything than a boxed card.
I love picture cards!
