How often do you have your vacuum serviced?

How often do you have your vacuum serviced?

I never have...and my vacuum broke (I have a Dyson which is about 5 years old). The repair guy told me it should be serviced every 6 months...I had no idea people did this. Am I the only one who had no clue?

Re: How often do you have your vacuum serviced?

I had to have it done once. It was clogged and I couldn't find it. I took every part of it off and just couldn't get it. The man at the place told me they need service but seriously, I'm not paying it. My mothers vacuum was a million years old and never serviced.

Turns out that the needles from our christmas tree clog the hose. It does it EVERY year. I fill the bathtub with water and float the hose in it. Then I blow REALLY hard into one end and a million needles SHOOT out the other side. If anyone wants to be smart about this, feel free. ha

No clue? We have a Dyson & I love it. I was under the impression that since it cost me a fortune (& an argument with DH) it would be indestructible.

Never. Our old vacuum went 13+ years without servicing, and it still works, but I wanted a better one, so I replaced it.

Once in a while, I'll take apart the vacs, including the steam vac, and clear out all the dog hair from the path, but that's it.

I have had my vacuum 6 years and I had it serviced once about two years ago. I only left it in because it was making a weird noise but it was worth it. I will probably have it done again next year but every 6 months seems a bit extreme.

Never. We replaced our old vacuum mainly because it is huge and heavy and we have lots of stairs, so I wanted something lighter. But it still worked just fine. I did change the filters/bags, but other than that, nothing.

Re: How often do you have your vacuum serviced?

Thank you! I never remember my mother having the vacuum serviced on a regular basis. I guess I should clean it more often, but I thought every 6 months seemed crazy. I am getting it back today...can't wait Chat Icon
