How often do you get, "When are babies coming along?"

Depending on your reason for not having children (you don't have to say why of course, we all know there are TONS of possibilities), since you are married do you find that people ask you when you ARE going to have children? Maybe it's because I'm still a NW, but I feel that people ask WAY too much! I think that people need to rethink this question because they don't know my situation and what if didn't want children or had other issues? I wouldn't want to explain this, nor would I feel like I'd have to explain this to anyone! They are all lucky because I do want kids one day, so it's easy enough to say NOT YET...but still! Mind your own beeswax people!

Any feelings? Experiences?

Yes I'm replying to my OP so I don't have to edit it lol, just wanted to add that this has happened about THREE times since the weekend and seeing this new board inspired me to find out if other people are in the same boat as me, or if I'm just surrounded by people who feel the need to intrude on my personal business!

Just because I got married doesn't mean I am having babies right away!! It's a marriage license not a baby license!!

Plus..it's a nosy question IMHO!

im not married yet but ive been with my fh for almost 5 years and i get all the time when im having kids. i dont mind because sooner or later i will maybe b4 im 3o

Whenever I see someone I have not seen in a while, they will ask this question.

Also the ILs always have this question on the tip of their tongue. I know I can't discuss certain things around them or say certain things to them, because it will lead to this question.

A lot less now that we have been married for over 5 years- I guess maybe they have given up on us?

But I HATE that question and it makes me uncomfortable- I feel like they are asking about my sex life in essence.
It's such an intimate personal thing.

I feel like saying- geez I'm not sure - he likes to pull out...
Or we only enjoy anal so not anytime soon!
Or something equally embarrasing!

I bet THAT would shut them right up!

I was just asked by my doctor 2 times
He said

"when are you going to have babies you are getting old"

I think i am going to find a new doctor
i was really insulated, this happened at 2 visits within a week apart

It's getting to be at least once a week now. I don't mind if it's my close friends asking because they're genuinely curious about my life plans - they are also good about not asking repeatedly. But the ILs have begun to pester us for grandkids, and I get the questions from random people at work, a friend of a friend at a bridal shower, extended family members, the guy at the counter at the pizza place, the people at the place we leave our dogs while we go on vacation... I'm tired of thinking of witty answers to such a personal question.

Luckily I do NOT get it from my parents or his..in fact one of the two sides, not saying which, is all for waiting like 2 years at least to "enjoy" our marriage first. I am not on board with their plan and they will be shocked when (God willing) it happens a lot sooner than that!!!!

I do get it from coworkers A LOT and neighbors and some friends. I don't mind when the close friends ask though for some reason.

We got that AT our wedding and each time I saw someone I hadn't seen since the wedding. Three years has past and in another 3 years I will be 40 so no one is really asking anymore. Lucky me!!

My parents-they know we are TTC, and my mother already knitted a blanket for her future grandchild.

ILs are completely unsupportive, and most don't know we are TTC and we don't get questions-mostly oh, you have time (which is nice sometimes, except from certain people where that translates to "Hopefully he dumps her before a kid is involved") My SIL said we were crazy when she saw my OPKs when we rented from her and she was snooping.

At work, they all took bets.

Luckily we don't get asked much.

My favorites are the badly-disguised questions, like "Are your parents pressuring you for grandchildren?"

Every so often. Not so much from family (thankfully) but coworkers & acquaintances mostly. One "friend" posts it on my Wall all the time.. "when u havin a baby"... I want to smack her!!!

I've said that to friends before.. they'll ask when the baby's coming and I'll say it's highly unlikely since I prefer it in the a$$. They laugh then stop asking (at least during that conversation...)

I get this all of the time! its soo annoying..We have only been married for 7 months..and I hear this constantly! We are waiting because we are simply not ready..emotionally, financially, etc..when will people understand this..especially financially with the way the economy is right now

I don't mind it from people at work because they usually ask about me and DH first and will ask if we are planning kids. It's not like the same people all the time either. But my mother on the other hand.....

DH and I got married fairly young (23 and 24) so people were okay w/ us not having kids yet... but it's been 3 1/2 years, and we're 26/27 now... and the question is coming more and more regularly - especially at work since like 5 women are pregnant... everytime i open my mouth people think it's to announce a pregnancy.

before we ever TTC, I got it from my BIL and MIL alot.

So I got fed up and said to BIL "I'll tell you that when you tell me when you are going to pay DH back the money we lent you."

Asked MIL when she was going to get around to marrying her boyfriend.

Questions suddenly stopped.

My reasoning is that if you get to ask me personal question that are none of your business, I get to ask you ones too.
