How often do you get JHS?
I go every 6 months. My hair is the curliest at its root, and since they need to stay about an inch away from your scalp when applying the chemical, once I am in my 5th month I am itching to get it done again!!
I am in my 5th month now, and with todays weather, my hair is a DISASTER!!! All these little frizzy flyaways. I can't wait till JUNE!!!!!!

I usually wait 6 - 7 months. I'm in my 7th month now and I can't WAIT to get it done again...I'm hoping to go this month! Next time I am NOT waiting thing long!

I got mine done for the first time in October. I am starting to realize that i need to get it done however I don't think I can being pregnant so I will have to wait till July.

I was only going once a year- my hair doesn't curl at the root
but now I realize the true difference- my hair is drying pin straight- even in FL and even today (sorry)
so I will going every 6 months from now on- also - I have really long hair- and she said that she would charge me less to only do my roots- so I figured I would start going 2 times a year

I have been going really back and forth on getting this. My concern is that my hair, which used to be SUPER thick, has really thinned out over the years and I'm scared of how it might look - if it's going to look "too" thin (if that makes sense)
Has anyone who's done this had really thin hair? Can you tell me the results?

Yea, my lady won't let me go before the 6 month mark. I tried to lie last time and she caught me..lol I'm about to start counting down the days!!!!!! I really don't know how I lived without this!

I can't wait! When I dried my hair this morning, I thought "Yeah it's the last time I'm drying my hair for 8 months!"

Are there any good cheaper places on LI? I really dont want to trek from setauket to queens to get my hair done!

I go to a place in Cedahurst. It's the girl who has always cut my hair. I started doing the JHS when it first came out in like 2001 and she was charging like $650 then (my hair is super long). Now she charges me like $450 with a haircut. I know I could get it done a LOT cheaper, but I'm a freak about my hair and I'm to scared to trust anyone else...

it's worth it- my sister is flying home from maryland and taking the train to queens - then I am picking her up
she is coming from Setauket also
I paid $200 2 weeks ago- and my hair DRIES straight- no blow dryer, nothing- even today in the humidity- my hair is pin straight and soft
I had gotten in done at 5 or 6 other places and they can't hold a candel to top point- I could never just leave the house with my hair down and wet before top point

I just want to also say, I don't go to Top Point, and I too can walk out of my house with a wet head and it dries pin straight and shiny. I also don't have that "japanese hair straightened look". You know what I mean? I see people all over the city walking around with hair that you can just tell was japanese straightened. Mine has body, not totally flat.

where do you go? i think with JHS, to get body afterwards it depends how thick your hair is. My hair is very think and pin straight wiith body. However, there is a girl I know who went to top point and her hair looks stringy... i think it is a resu;t of her hair not the place.
I go to top point. I am going this month for my touch up at the 1 year mark. Since my bhair is very long and thick, the roots are kind of weighed down so it isn't much trouble to blow-dry the outer layer roots. It takes me less than 5v minutes. BUT I can't put my hair half up cuz you will see the curly mess underneath  I personally do not want to go for a touch up at much less than 1 year.
I also know people who go to Hair Village for a great price. Locally (suffolk) there are tons of places but don't expect to pay under $600.

I go to Harvey's place in Cedahurst (my ladys name is Maria). My hair is very long, but not that thick. it isn't thin, but I have a friend with the thickest hair I've ever seen, so compared to hers, mine isn't thick at all..lol
My hair is soooo curly and kinky I can't even just blow out the roots, and the weight of my hair doesn't pull it straight enough. I literally have to blow it out, which really only takes me like 10-15 minutes to get it looking perfect again. Before Japanese it took me like 45 minutes to blow it out... and it still ended up curling back up hours after the fact...

Yes, they just need to apply this special protectant to the highlighted pieces. I think it's 2 weeks after the japanese that you can get it dyed again. The Japanese will lift some of the color out of your hair, so you'll def need at least another toner if you use that...
