how often do u think

that positive opks are wrong? if i have been doing them since september, and i get the positive on the opk and bd a lot around the time of getting the positive, how much of a chance do u think there is that its wrong and i actually o later in the month? because in all actuality, we only really bd from the time af leaves until like 6 days after positive opk and then stop for the rest of the month until af shows again. so do u think that we should be bd'ing throughout the month because it could be wrong? sorry to ramble girls im just trying to put all info i have been tracking into a notebook to show dr hanauer when i go there, and wondering about this.. eta; example. this month, af left on jan 21st. we bd'ed jan 28, 30, got positive opks the 31, feb 1 and 2 Chat Icon bd'ed feb 1st, 2 the 3rd and then stopped.

Mich-don't lose hope. Every cycle, even perfectly timed, there is only a 25% chance of a BFP. We just have to keep trying and hoping. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: how often do u think

I would think if you are getting positive OPK's thru the 2nd of the month, then you might O on 3rd or 4th, so you may want to BD for another day or 2.

If you are concerned they are off, would you considering charting too to confirm ovulation?

THe +OPKs were the same we talked about right? 2 PMs and 1 AM right?

Why do you think the OPKs are wrong? Is it just because you aren't getting pregnant? Or are you seeing signs of fetility at times other than around your +OPK?

I think you mentioned having a history of endometriosis, right? What's your status with that now?

yes got a positive on sat night, and sunday and monday mornings. we bd'ed so much around that time and i feel like we always have and if i covered my bases then the fact that im not getting pregnant has to related to something being wrong, wouldnt it? since its been almost 6 months now?? i just feel so frustrated like i want to know what is wrong.. i did always have cysts on my ovaries and endometriosis; i was on the pill for like 14 years; had a laparoscopy, went on lupron, etc. but that was all like 12 years ago that this hapened. i stopped bcp when i got married which was almost 2 years ago. i just dont know what else to do... i figured i was being smart using oopks from beginning so i would know when to bd but i ghuess i just have to start bd'ing every other day for the whole month and see if that works...

if you have a history of cysts and endo, maybe you should have some tests done. there can be a cyst blocking something, or scar tissue blocking something that maybe a simple procedure can fix?

you maybe o'ing every month, but if theres a blockage, your egg and sperm wont meet.

ITA.

The thoughts I'm having about this are...

1) 85% of couples your age will get pregnant within the 1st year of trying. In that sense, I think there's no real need to panic - you're still in the average range right now.

2) With your history of cysts and endo, there might be some residual problems or things that can be affecting your fertility. There are simple tests that can be done like sonograms to see any cysts, HSG to make sure your tubes are open and your uterus is free of cysts, fibroids, scar tissue, etc., and bloodwork to check on your hormone levels. Maybe it would be a good idea to take these first steps.

Please don't panic though! Like I said 85% of people will get pregnant in their first year of trying. You're only at the six month mark and while I completely understand how difficult it is to see BFNs every month, statistically it's not really "significant" yet (personally and emotionally - yes, it's completely significant... just not from a statistical standpoint). You do have some history of factors that could affect your fertility so maybe try taking those first few couple of steps and then go from there. NO NEED TO PANIC SWEETIE! We're all here for you.

Mich-Hayley is giving you very sound advice. I know you have a regular OB appt. Why don't you write up your whole history and speak with your gyno about it-this way if there are tests that need to be performed, you can get your ducks in a row. This is what my plan would be-enjoy your birthday-you are going to rock 30! Chat Icon Make love to Anthony without any of this baby making stuff on your mind and just reconnect-massage, nice wine, a bath. Enjoy your day and put TTC on the back burner for one day. Then, what I want you to do is make a list of your concerns and history for your OB. Be as thorough as possible, and you can be the biggest PITA-that is why we have co-pays. You are Type A like me, and I know that writing this all out and getting it out of your head will be such a relief. Take as much time as you need with the gyno. Find out if any of your history would require testing. See if you can get a script for an SA for Anthony-it is non invasive-they just produce a specimen and you bring it to a lab.

In the meantime, I want you to start calling me every day. I mean it. You can lament of course, but we are going to surround ourselves with positive thoughts. We will be support buddies-we will talk about anything and everything-I am here for you sweetie! So, now you have two assignments-forget the temping and charting-you don't need something else to drive you mad until you know if this past endometriosis is affecting anything. The assignments are 1. Comprehensive history of your gyno issues, and as many questions as you can come up with-write them down. You will forget them.
2. Call me every night and I want a full report of how you are doing.

Oh-and 3. Have an amazing birthday, splurge on luxurious treatments and thank God every day for DH. If you FM me, I will tell you why, because I am not allowed to put Real Housewives spoilers up! Chat Icon

I think that positive OPKs are for the most part, pretty accurate.
Like the posters above said, perhaps chcking other signs (temping, CM,) as backup will be helpful. And, if you have PCOS, that is definitely something to consider.
It sounds like you are doing all the right things by going to the dr., etc. I am hopeful that you will get answers.

Re: how often do u think

thanks girls. u made me cry. i know that statistically it isnt significant yet, but like yous aid, hayley, it is personally.... it makes me worry and wonder and want to know what the deal is... so yes, i will ask for those tests when i go to the gyn march 9th and see what she says. in the meantime, we'll bd every other day this month and see if that helps... this way all the bases are covered for sure. also i am taking mucinex this month.. we'll see is that works. but thank u from the bottom of my heart for being there for me and answering all my questions and listening when i really need it. u girls are the best! xoxoxo
