I would think any snow would be too much! People can't drive in So Cal when it rains I would HATE to see them drive if it snowed!

If it is snowing two states over that is enough to warrant calling off work. Yes, I am serious! Before my SUV I had a little car that got stuck on the Van Wyck in a foot of snow. After swearing never to drive again and crying like a 5 year old...I started calling off work when snow was in the forecast! Side note...my bf at the time laughed at me and told me to put the pedal to the medal and pray. I still married him even though neither the praying nor the pedal to the medal worked.

I went in Friday- it took me four hours to get home (by car). I make decisions on a case-by-case basis and I have a long commute, so the snow varies from home to work. But I may think harder next time about staying home because that last commute was really awful.

Depends on the LIRR....if there are massive delays I'm not even gonna try.

I look to see if my school district is closed..the one I live in not the one I work in since I work in NYC.

There have only been a few times that I have stayed home due to weather.

You know, it's not the amount of snow that keeps me home, it's the lack of clearing the roads properly and in a timely manner that makes me want to stay home. That being said, it would take like 5 or 6 inches for me to stay home. Only because the plows and sand trucks never seem to keep up with it around here. But I've driven in like 14inches of snow before with no plowing, and it wasn't a huge problem.

My job NEVER closes so no matter how much snow, I go in.. I live close enough & it just means an easier, quieter day so I don't mind it.

I grew up on Michigan and was used to driving in a lot more snow than we generally have on LI. It wasn't unusal to have 8" three times in one week. When I was living in Boston we had 24" in a 24 hour period and I went to work the next day (OK - we lost power and hadn't had heat for about 16 hours at that point, and they had heat at the office, but that's only part of the reason). I'm less than 4 miles from my office now so if there's work to be done I'll go in - why waste a sick day.

Now, nothing keeps me home since Bloomberg doesn't believe in snow days and I live 5 minutes away.

But when we lived in Huntington, if the school across the street was closed, I stayed home. It was only once, but I couldn't leave my road, so imagine my hour commute that day!

I said a couple of inches but I can work from home so it's not so much of a big deal.

My major determining factor is if daycare is closed...then depending on who can take off...then how bad it is out.
