How much is an inspection?????
I used someone for an inspection + termite inspection in 07 and it was $350 or so. I KNOW it was $300 something...
I called the same guy and it's now $500 b/c of gas he said! I dont know about you but thats a huge jump in prices!
What an average price? Do you have anyone you recommend in the Suffolk County area - Sayville?

That sounds typical to me. Depending on the size of the house, the average home inspection on Long Island runs $400-500.

Id like a $400 one please!  The home is 1960 sq ft I believe 4 bed/2.5 bath partial unfinished basement.

Our inspector was $435. He is excellent...my agent has told me that some agents don't recommend him because he is so thorough!

Thanks Lauren! I called and the flat fee is $435 but since theres an additional kitchen/apartment it was $470. So i made an appointment. (I forgot to tell the first guy about the apartment - I bet it would have been more than $500)

We paid $400 but the guy usually charges about $500-$600. My Uncle knows him so he gave us a discount.

o.k. I think Im going to call them back and go for Monday or tuesday - hoping the roads will be open then. Im afraid to get the inspection and then have the hurricane destroy the place LOL

Ours, last week, was $495. I would not recommend this inspector. He missed mold that was clearly visible to a second inspector, who charged us 425. All for a house we can no longer move forward with. UGH
