How Much Did Your 7 Week Old Eat?
Ok, so my DS is now offically 7 weeks old... and I'm not too sure if he is eating waaaay too much. When he was first born, at 7lbs 10oz, the doctors were actually concerned that he wasn't gaining weight. I was going to the ped each week until finally he was on track. His next appt is the 5th for his 2 month check-up.... So I'll be asking this same question to my ped as well...
How much did / does your 7 week old eat? Right now he is up to 6 1/2 oz every 2 to 3 hours. How I got to this amount was giving him a half oz more each time he finished a bottle and started crying after he was done, while eating his hands and acting like he was still starving. My last ped appt which was 3 weeks ago, she said he was right on track...but then he was eating 4oz every 3 hours. over the past few weeks tho, it seems he's just not eating enough. He seemed to be fine for the past week with the 6 1/2 oz.... but tonight after he finished it, he did NOT want me to take the bottle away, and then started eating his hands again. I mean, seriously...? Should I be giving him more..?
He doesn't eat the full bottle in one shot... Usually he drinks about 4oz non-stop, but not at a very quick pase...then I burp him...play with him for about 10-15 mins and then he'll want to eat the last amount. If I don't play with him, he won't eat until about 10-15 mins later anyways, it's like he wants to take a break ... he's done this from day one when he only drank one oz! LOL.
Everyone I ask says to jsut let him eat...but I don't want to over-feed him or get him in a habit that whenever he cries he can eat. I just feel like he's eating waaaay more then he should be...
TIA!

You can't over feed a baby...they will let you know when their full.
He may be eating more often because he's not drinking his bottle all at one shot.
