how much can i "budget" for nursery furniture??

what would be a realistic "roundabout figure"??? I am clueless.....

I think this can be a totally flexible number.

My sister spent around $8,000.

I spent around $250.

We bought a friend's Belini crib used for $100 and spent about $150 on the changing table.

We used a bookshelf for her "reading corner" that we already had and my sister gave us her old wooden chest that she didn't want.

Yes -- she went ALL out.

She was saying how her nursery furniture cost more then her bedroom furniture and living room furniture combined!!!

She literally got EVERY piece from the collection. It all came from Behr's. She has the low table/changing table, the tall dresser, convertable crib, tall bookshelf, big upholstered chair/ottoman ... she got it all!

It depends on what you get.
I got a floor model crib for about $350.
And a seperate (different maker) changing table for $140
And we used an Armoire that we already had.

huge range as with everything...

we didn't want to pay more than $2500 for 3 pieces (convertible crib and 2 dressers, 1 to act as a changing table). the only reason we were able to get the set that we did was because the store threw in the crib for "free" so we got 3 pieces for the price of 2...

ETA: forgot the glider (and ottoman), we got it at BRU for i think ~$450 with coupons...

* Crib
* Dresser/Changing Table
* Changing Station (attaches to dresser)
* Tall Chest
* Glider & Hassock

for us, we tried to budget low. we are using my baby changing table and dresser and only need to buy the crib which is $300. The bedding was $100 and little odds and ends to decorate, prob another $100.

not sure, grandma and grandpa are already going bonkers with wanting to buy all this stuff and more when the times comes closer for it.

we got the crib as a floor model 1/2 off at $400 from a store going out of business (though we had found others cheaper) and the glider was $199 and the ottoman was $79 from Target. The combo changing unit was also around $400 but we had a BBB coupon for 20% off that. Hope that helps.

It seems you can find a way to spend as little or as much as you want. Just set a limit and shop creatively.

We spent $3400 on a Ragazzi set but we plan for this to be her furniture for as long as she lives at home. Her crib converts to a full size bed which we already have a mattress for.

We spent $3,600 for a crib, dresser, changing table and glider.
We plan on using this set for all our children.

We spent alittle over 4000.00 from Behrs but the crib converted into a full size bed headboard and footboard...we got a long dresser and a hutch...so it will carry him until he goes away to school!

Well I was feeling guilty but I guess I don't feel so bad anymore. My mil bought us the crib and changing table/dresser which I think came to about 1200 with shipping and all. Then my parents bought the glider which was about 450 i think. That is all the furniture we could fit in the tiny room. I could probably see spending about 500 on the bedding and matching decor. Plus 350 carpet and 100 paint and supplies. So that makes about 2600 from floor to ceiling. Not so bad I guess. I just have a hard time with it because we haven't even bought ourselves a nice bedroom set, we are still using fh old ikea furniture and his full size bed.

We also have a Ragazzi set and my parents spent $3200 (it was their gift, my mom gave me a budget). I wanted something that was going to last and grow with him or have it handed down to baby number two. I purchased a tall chest, changing station and the crib converts to a full sizebed.

Our Munire set (changing table/dresser, convertible crib, and tall dresser) was a little over $2000, plus we just bought a rocking chair for $220. Thank goodness the nursery is small!

I am planning on staying on the lower spectrum. I love how Kelly4, I think it was her, incorporated adult dressers in her baby's room. We are going to go that route. I really just want a white crib, not looking for convertible.
