Depends on the bag ........my friend just bought a small (and I mean SMALL) qulited clutch - $1800 .......
I'm not a Chanel bag fan, so I never really looked at their pricing. I just know it's very high -

I get it. I know someone who was loosing her job (teaching) no prospects out there, just had baby #2, major student loans,hubby's job downsized and she was talking about going on an expensive vacation the day before they were giving pink slips.
She has designer everything but then asks about WIC for formula

She told a co-worker that it costs 5300 and she was putting some of it on a credit card.
She just bought a car.
She bought a LV 4 months ago
She earns way less than I do. Her sister passed a few months ago and I think she is using the life insurance proceeds.
Not my business but the chanel bag everyone knows about. They all came over to congratulate her on the purchase and she leaves it sitting on the couch where visitors sit. I would never leave that bag there.
It's kinda hard not to notice things when you spend 10 hours a day 2 feet from someone.
Just asking about the bag. Good for her. She is one of those people that would have designer everything and go on food stamps..

Two girls at work got pricey bags within the past few months, and the same thing happened here. Fawning over things, squealing, literally saying 'CONGRATULATIONS!'
I don't get it at all. Congratulations on...buying something?
No one congratulated me on the string cheese I just bought at 7-11.

I remember at one point I was looking at a bag for $800 and I mentioned to her that it's never going to happen. She asked why, and told me I will have it forever.
Yes, I see that these are collectibles and are nice bags and part of wardrobe. I like them too but the fuss was really over the top. And the fact that it sits on a couch taking up space next to our visitors really makes me

I just got an email from Chanel, with photos and prices of their Prefall line
If anyone wants me to forward it to them i can
they range from $2900-$4800
I have a few bags including a caviar Maxi from their classic line, and I can tell you that when I got mine in November of 2010 it was $3700 and now if you wanted to buy it its $5300 and on July 15th the price is going up to $6400, so people are buying them like crazy right now before the price increase.
The great thing about Chanel is that because of the twice yearly 20% increases the bags really hold their value especially for resale.

Hmmm - My response to a big fat purchase is usually "good for you, enjoy it" .......(my Dad's is "wear/use it in good Health" which my DH finds absolutely hilarious........but I digress)
I've never heard anyone say "Congratulations" to another woman for purchasing a bag .......but in her case, it DID cost the same as a used car, which I would congratulate someone one ........

i believe the medium classic flap is up to 4,800 now. i want to say two years ago, it was around 3,700. so yes, they have significant price increases every year!
