how many words did your 18 month old say?
my ds will be 18 months very shortly and I am getting a little worried about his speech. I know all children develop at their own pace but he doesnt say much of anything. my dd was saying a LOT at his age. just curious to see how many words your LO might have said at this time. I am thinking of having him tested.

My DD didnt say much at all at 18 months and I was pretty nervous, especially when I saw other kids her age.
I was just about to have her tested when her speaking took off. She is now 24 months and has a ton of words. She went from barely speaking to speaking in 3-4 word sentences.

Re: how many words did your 18 month old say?
At her 18 month visit they asked if she could say at least 5 words. That was it.

My pediatrician never seemed worried despite my concerns, even at her 2 year appointment, because she continued to progress - even if it was slow.
Good luck - I know how nervewracking it is!

Re: how many words did your 18 month old say?
Pediatrician wanted 5 words at that point.
My DD was talking wayyy more than my son. My daughter was conversational. My son isnt. But he's increasing his words, sounds.
I also found that my daughters words were clearer. My son's are not. He's making sounds.. but they are actually words.
Yesterday he said "all gone." but it sounded like ahh ga. unless you listened closely.
Dont worry. Im sure he is fine.

Re: how many words did your 18 month old say?
DS#1 only had 1 word when he turned 18 months. I was so concerned that I had him tested by EI. They said he was fine. By the end of 18 months, he had about 10 words and had a word explosion around 2.
DS#2 has about 20 words at 16 months.

Re: how many words did your 18 month old say?
DD only had 5-7 words at that age, and she didn't say anymore for awhile. I would say closer to 20-22 months she started saying more and then by 2 she was saying new things everyday.
Now at 26 months, she tries to repeat everything I say.
