How many times...

How many times did you see a house before making an offer on it?

I feel like I am driving the REA crazy - we have seen it twice already and are going back again this week (with my mom).

Is this normal?

Thanks!

Re: How many times...

we saw it 2x and made an offer. It was in a market though that we had to move fast since they were bidding over the asking price.

It took us about 4 days to make the formal offer. It was accepted that night. That was a long time in that market. I think you have some leeway considering it's a buyers market right now. If the house is priced right and is getting a lot of showings though you may want to consider that.

It's a big step either way. Buying a home is a ton of money and pulling the trigger is very scary.

Re: How many times...

The first house we put an offer on 2x.

The house that we are currently in contract with...1x. We knew we had to move quickly on this house because there were two other offers already on the table.

I don't agree that you have that much leeway on those houses that are in good condition and priced right. Keep in mind that if you think you see a good house for a good deal, then others are thinking the same thing when they see the house.

We saw ours twice before making an offer. I agree that sometimes you have to move fast on something that is priced right.

Ok - so I'm not all that crazy.

I think we are going to be making an offer on Wednesday, after I will have seen it 3 times.

We put our offer in hours after seeing it for the second time.

The people who bought our previous home made an offer the same afternoon they saw the house for the first time.

that's what I said, if the house is in good condition, priced right and getting a lot of showings you have to consider that. It's still not the same as 4 years ago where you had to jump in 20 minutes or the house is gone.

We saw our houses 2x before making an offer. Our co-op sold the same day our buyers saw it.

Re: How many times...

Good to know that the average is 2 times.

We are going to be making an offer on Wednesday. It's such a huge decision, we just didn't want to rush into it.

Re: How many times...

We saw our home twice. The 2nd time we asked a lot more questions and investigated the ins and outs of the house a lot more.

Re: How many times...

we only took about two steps inside-whispered our offer to each other & then told the agent right there.

There were other houses we considered that we visited multiple times. Just DH & I though, we never brought family.

We only looked once because we knew we really wanted it and the owner was making his decision that night.

Re: How many times...

We looked at ours a TON of times, but you know our situation...

I would say go and look at it as many times as you like. You really need to be sure what you're getting for the money is worth it.

I wouldn't rush into buying a home, it's a HUGE investment.

You've seen the pics and know how much I love it - I just need to make sure we can make it work..... (space-wise)

I actually got the dimensions and it's quite a bit bigger than our apartment (minus that huge dining area in our kitchen)

Twice before we made an offer. We were back twice since then--once for an inspection, and once to get a problem checked out before we went to contract.

I don't think you're going too much--it is a really big decision, and you want to look at it a few times, and if possible, at different times of day. If you decide it's for you though and it's priced well, I would make an offer very quickly. The place we liked had another offer submitted just after ours was accepted.

Good luck!

That's my only concern for you guys... the space thing. It just seems somewhat small. But you guys will know if it will work for you.
