how many offers did you make?

From the time you started looking until you closed on your house,

1. How many houses did you put in offers on?
2. How long did it take to hear back about each offer (approx.)?

Thanks!

Re: how many offers did you make?

Only offered on 1 place and we ended up getting it... Although there were many counteroffers between us... I would say we heard back within a couple days

Re: how many offers did you make?

We made a total of 6 offers. The first 2 took like 2 weeks or more to hear back (those were not the norm). The others we heard back within 2 or 3 days.

Re: how many offers did you make?

We made 3 offers on 3 different houses.

1st offer - we heard back immediately with a counter, we countered back, they scoffed at our 2nd counter and they got ****** and raised the price of the house on us, so we moved on.

2nd offer - we heard back within 2 days and countered to make a more realistic offer. Based on that response, we moved on immediately. We later learned they accepted a price lower than our offer 1 year later, so their loss!

3rd offer - we heard back from the owner within 6 hours. We spoke on the phone directly with no REA (he was a flipper and needed to sell). We went over the pros and cons of both sides on the phone and we came to an agreed price. We signed offer contracts the next morning and we closed within 30 days of this.

Re: how many offers did you make?

on the house we ended up buying we put in one offer, they countered, we countered and made a deal within 30 minutes!

the previous owners already put in an offer on a new house and had a previous deal on my house that fell through last minute so they were pretty desperate!

Re: how many offers did you make?

I think we lost 4 houses before this one and we ended up going back and forth on this one quite a bit.

You have to be ready to lose houses. In this market a good house will go quick and with multiple offers.

Re: how many offers did you make?

We made offers on about 4 houses.

We went back and forth a couple of times with the one we ended up buying. Overall it didn't take more than a day or 2 per offer.

Re: how many offers did you make?

We made offers on 5 houses including the one we eventually purchased.

First house - we thought was VERY overpriced. They wouldn't budge - had a high mortgage to pay off. We walked away.

Second house - same as the first.

Third house - we underbid. They didn't accept. We held firm. Then DH and I decided while we loved the house - we hated the block it was on - that can't be changed. About a week later, they decided to accept our low offer but we had pulled it.

Fourth house - We heard back from them within 24 hours. The house got a very bad inspection with a lot of issues. We refused to continue with the deal.

Fifth house - the one we ended up buying. We bid, heard back within 6 hours, they countered, we countered and they accepted!

Re: how many offers did you make?

We made 2 offers including the one that was accepted now.

The first one they countered back ridiculously high ( I guess they weren't being realistic to what the comps were) so we walked, but we heard back within a day

The second one, which is now accepted, we heard back on the first bid within 2 days and the second and third within 1 day each.

3 houses Chat Icon
House one...it was a bidding war that we lost. The owner would not wait two weeks until we closed on our co-op.

House two..we went in full asking price, someone went in $10k over asking..all cash. Deal fell through and they called us back two weeks later, but we had moved on.

House three...the one we bought. We put an offer in..heard back an hour later. Counter & heard back within the hour. We signed papers that week. It was fast moving.

When we were looking we put in 3 offers on one house and we heard back within the day. That house was a bust once went to inspection.

We put in one offer, they countered, we countered they took all within two days I would say. Nothing like crazy just until schedules permitted to get calls and stuff.

Re: how many offers did you make?

I think we offered on 4-5 different houses. The one we ended up in we offered on and couldn't agree. But the seller became more desperate as the house sat on the market and we submitted the same offer a month and half later when she was more willing to negotiate.

The whole process from starting to look to an accepted offer took 4 months. We closed 3 1/2 months after that.

We made 5 offers total.

All we waited a day or longer to get a response.

Every house had multiple offers...so they all went on for a few days or week with negotiating.

Two house were just listed when we put in our offers.. so they wanted to wait a week to respond ( until they had several appts and the 1st Open House) and then responded to all Offers.

Goodluck!!!
