How many of you are going back to work after your pregnancy? We are talking about starting a family but i would only get 1 year maternity leave and then have to return...
What are u ladies doing?

Baby is due beginning of July, going back to teach in Sept. DH works nights and will also have his mom help out watching baby

I'm a teacher due in June, so I'll leave sometime in May and return in September.
My father will watch the baby while we're at work.

Dh has altered his schedule & so have I so that we are both home for several days during the week. For the one day that neither of us can be off, DHs cousin will watch the baby in our home.
After that infant stage, off to daycare

Yup - we started the search and found the place we were extremely happy with by my 20th week. Got right in with a deposit and we are set for the time we expect to put him in.

Thanks for sharing girls..My DH and I both teach, we are finishing up our masters...but i know in my heart if i get pg, I am going to want to stay with the baby...but unfortunatly these days...1 salary doesnt cut it.....hmmmmmmmm.............

WOW, you are lucky to get a whole year of maternity. Not many people get that much time and are lucky to get 2 months!
I will most likely be going back to work 2-3 months after the baby comes. My mom has incredibly expressed an interest to take care of my little munchkin and I feel so fortunate that she will be able to do that.... who better to watch my child than my own mother!!!

I am going back to work about five weeks after the baby is born. I'm due in early July, and I have to go back in late August. DH and I have opposite schedules so one of us will always be home with the baby.

it is tough b/c we will almost lose money in a way to pay for daycare full time. It will cost more than half of my take home (I also pay all the medical benefits, wageworks, 401K & Life/Aflac insurances through my job), and then with increased expenses for the baby & travel/commuting time etc, we would barely break even for my salary anyway. It is a tough call on LI for many, since daycare costs are so high.

An entire year- you're very fortunate!!!
I'm not on a staff position, I freelance. I also have my own business... so, for now, I'm going to be staying home with the baby.
Baby is due in July (June if Mommy has anything to do with it) and I will look for a full time job in Sept./October. As to what we'll do, depends if/when I find a full time job. Our munchkin might be in daycare if there is a spot avail. If not, my Mom will have to watch her until we find something. I'm sure it'll all work out.

I'm debating whether I should or not. I just went back to fulltime (with one child already) and I could easily go back to PT - but it won't be as easy with 2 kids - figuring out daycare...

I am, unfortunately   I love my job, but would much rather stay home I'm going to hopefully see if I can work 4 days a week (3 would be pefect, but I know it's not going to happen ), and MIL will most likely watch her at least a few days a week. Guess I better get on finalizing plans pretty darn soon, in case I need to find a part-time day care. I just refuse to talk about it with MIL because I don't want to face reality, ever!

It all depends. If we sell our co-op, I would like to stay home for a year. If we don't sell the co-op (or can make enough on renting it to cover our costs), I'll need to go back to work after my 3 months leave. I'm hoping I can get them to extend it one more month. We'll see.
