How many bottles for a newborn ?
How many bottles should I have for a newborn? I have 3- 5oz bottles and 3- 9oz bottles. Should I exchange the 9oz for more 5oz bottles? I know she wont be drinking that much in the beginning but I just figured I would plan ahead by having some 9oz bottles. I plan on BF and pumping.

Re: How many bottles for a newborn ?
I had 10 5 oz bottles and 2 9oz but we never use the 9oz.
We lost 1 of the 5oz and i leave 2 with the babysitter so that leaves me with 7 which has been a good number to have on hand at least for our house

How many bottles for a newborn ?
I have a ton of 4oz bottles and 4 8oz bottles. I wish I had more big ones because in the long run, he will need to up his drinking. I can always make smaller bottles out of the 8oz. Does that make sense ? lol..DS is ff only.

I had 2 five ounce to start since I mostly bf. DD wouldn't take the avent bottle at all so I'm glad I didn't get more than that. I bought three 9 oz tommy tippee and have been usuing those. I wouldn't exchange for more smaller ones since you'll eventually need the bigger ones and there's no reason you can't use them right from the start.

i wouldnt stock up on any until the baby is here and you know what they like. DD would take any bottle but they all made her gassy except dr. Browns (which i really didnt want to use due to all of the parts). we went through several bottles before ending up with them so def dont stock up.

If you are bottle feeding only then you will need 6-8 bottles to cover a 24 hour period. I agree to buy only one at first until you know it's going to work.

I agree.. i only have a few smaller bottles but tons of bigger ones. I used the larger ones from the very beginning because you can always fill it with however many oz you want. By the time my LO was 2 months he was already past drinking 4oz at a time so the smaller bottles were much less useful to me.

Re: How many bottles for a newborn ?
I had 6 4 oz bottles and 6 8oz bottles. The 4oz will only be used for about 6 - 8 weeks then you will probably be using the 8oz. I liked having 6 though as i would make up the feedings for 24hours at a time. Now with the larger ones he only takes about 4 sometimes 5 bottles during the day. But i like to have the additional one for water when it is hot out.

How many bottles for a newborn ?
I have only three 5oz bottles (DD is 10 weeks) & 1 of them I keep at my parents' house bc they watch her a lot. I mostly BF - DD gets a bottle sometimes when I have to work (here & here) or I go out or when we go out to dinner or something. I recently bought six 9oz bottles for when she starts eating more eventually.
I wouldn't buy too many bottles to start out with.. See what works/what your needs are & then decide.. ESP if u r BF. I had a ton of bottles I had registered for & wound up returning once BF worked so well for us

Re: How many bottles for a newborn ?
mine ate every 3 hours so that is 8 bottles in a 24 hour period.
i have the playtex drop ins so i invested in a ton of iners and nipples and fewer bottle bottoms- thus when i was ready to make a bottle, i just swappted the nipple and changed out the liner. the more nipples the better with the playtex system.
otherwise, if money is no object, id buy 10 - 6 oz bottles. the 6 oz is perfect size and 10 is more than enough to get you through
