the first week, and he'll save the rest of his vacation time for when DD is a few months older and there is more for him to do

We'll see if anyone turns out to be trustworthy enough to open and close and maintain the pizzeria the way that he likes.... if not, mom will be here....

This is what we did b/c in the beginning after a week I had my mom & his mom helping out & I didn't want him to use up all his days.

we are both teachers and the baby is due in July- so whatever time we have left in our summer vacation. I hope the baby comes early that way we have more time to spend with him/her! Chat Icon

Re: how long will your DH be at home

The tentative plan is for him to be home a week, work a week, be home a week.

We'll see, that might change to just be home a straight 2 weeks.

Re: how long will your DH be at home

He automatically gets five days...so we think he'll take that and maybe put in for two weeks when I'm about ready to go back to work...spend a week with me and baby, then spend a week with baby himself.
My mom and his mom are going to be around right after, so him being home the first few weeks would probably be pointless.

None

Hopefully he won't work the day after the baby comes. Then my mother and his mother will help.

If he is home one day a week I will be happy!

Yes, it s*cks.

Re: how long will your DH be at home

He gets two weeks paternity leave. After that he may work from home a few days every once and a while to help out if someone is not around to help me.

he gets 2 weeks, I think he will be home the whole first week, then take a day or 2 off the following 3 weeks

Re: how long will your DH be at home

One week. When I go back to work after 12 weeks, he's taking a family leave of 6 weeks so that we don't have to put DS in day care yet. So far that's the plan.

Don't worry, I am in the exact same situation, minus the MIL help and not sure what my mom's story will be. I feel for you! DH works most days and is on call 24/7. I am sure he will get coverage for when I actually deliver, but after that, all bets are off. Chat Icon

Re: how long will your DH be at home

He is trying for 2 weeks, he gets 3 weeks vacation every year, so he put in for xmas week, and he wrote that he wants off for 2 weeks when his wife gives birth, they will probably give it to him.

Re: how long will your DH be at home

We were just discussing this at dinner last night. Probably a few days but then he will try to adjust his schedule so that is is home entire mornings or afternoons for a month or two (He is a psychologist) My mom is coming to stay for a while although I'm not sure for how long and his mom lives close by.

Not at all. He has weekends off, does that count?

Even if his schedule that week has him working 5PM-midnight, he needs to be studying all day.
