Re: how long to drive to myrtle beach

I wouldn't do it for 3-4 days with or without kids.

We drive from Rockland County and it takes us about 10-11 hours. My parents drive from Huntington and it takes them about 12 hours - and they make a stop on the way since it's a long trip.

We just got home last night. It took us 14 hoursChat Icon Chat Icon

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE lock your car when you are there. I must have hit the unlock button on my keys when they were in my pocket when playing mini golf and my cash in my wallet which was locked in my car in the back on the floor was taken. My Garmin and iPod werent taken but $160+ was taken. PLEASE make sure everything is locked up. The cop said it happens ALL the time!!

Also, eat at Villa Romana - SOOOOOOOOO delicious!!!!!! We also ate at the Gulf Stream which was really good too!!

If it were a 3-4 day trip I would fly!

Re: how long to drive to myrtle beach

It takes approximately 12-14 hours depending on when you go. DH and i did the trip one year in 12 hours because we started driving at about 5pm or so and driving in the middle of the nite there was no traffic.

My insane husband did the trip last week in about ten hours Chat Icon (I flew down).

We drove back together in bad weather and a few construction delays and it took 12.5.

Would you be staying for 3-4 days plus two days for driving? Three days, I wouldn't do it but maybe would for four days.

ETA: we live in Northport and drive to Surfside Beach where my mom lives - a little south of MB.

thanks everyone.. we booked a trip with our 4 children to surfside beach for june 26 -july 3rd.. then we found out that one of the kids graduation ceremony is not until the 28th of june.. so we would leave the night of the 28th.. get there on the 29th and leave on the 3rd of july. so we would have 3 full days, 2 half days i guess. i don't want to fly because we want our car while we are down there plus there are 6 of us and we have 2 other vacation weeks planned already.. we drove to virginia for 2 days last year.. and it wasn't bad. just wondering if it would be worth it! thanks!

Swing by my mom's and wish her a happy birthday on July 2nd! Chat Icon

And that doesn't sound that bad ... especially since you still have the weekend when you come back (so you could leave later in the day on the 3rd and it wouldn't really matter).
