how long should a 3 month old sleep during the day?

mine is sleeping practically all day. what is normal?

Matty sleeps usually 9-10:30. THen 11:30 -1:00 then usually an afternoon nap. Then he'll go down for the night around 8.

We used Health Sleep Habits, Happy Child but we checked it out of the library not bought so I can't check it for reference but I'm trying to recall off the top of my head. I want to say I remember like 16 hours total b/w day and night?

Andrew would sleep for about 1 hr after Breakfast then eat then go down for about 3-4 hrs then eat again then nap for another hour then wake up eat and then sleep for the night.

He just stopped this routine about a month ago.

Leah hardly sleeps at all!

We get her up about 6:30. She sleeps from about 8-9 am, then maybe a catnap or two during the day. She sleeps from 5-9, then sleeps from about 11pm until we wake her in the morning

I would say, 2-3 naps ranging from 1 -2 hours each.

they sleep from 10:30 to about 5am and then a nap at 10am to 1pm. with cat naps the rest of the day.

Hannah goes to bed between 8 - 9 and sleeps until 6 - 8 in the morning.

She naps:

9:00 - 11:00am

12:30 - 2:30pm

4:00 - 5:00pm

7:00 - 7:30pm

then bedtime routine starts at about 7:45.

So you can see she does sleep most of the day. There are even times her morning nap lasts 4 - 5 hours straight.

by looking at your schedules maybe she is the same. She sleeps from 10-7am then goes back to sleep like 9 am -12:00 then again at 2-4 until the night routine of 10pm. Does this sound like too much or pretty avg?

I actually think her not napping from 4pm - 10pm sounds like she's not getting enough sleep!

The rest sounds very normal for her age.

According to several books I've read you have her up too late.

Did you ever try putting her to bed around 8? More time for you and DH!!!

I don't mean to tell you how to parent, you know your DD better than anyone. I was keeping Hannah up until 1opm and since putting her to bed earlier she's happier (sleeps better, better dispostion) and me and DH love our couple of hours alone.

WOW- DD definately sleeps less during the day- she goes down between 7 and 8 pm, sleeps about 6 hours, eats and goes to sleep until around 4 am, eats and goes down to 7am.

She only naps once after that usually around 11-12 pm until 2:30, 3pm and stays awake except for little cat naps until 7pm again. She is only 2 months old though.

DD sleeps at night from about 8pm until 7 am. She'll take a 30-45 minute nap around 9 or 9:30 am.

Then she just cap naps the rest of the day. Sometimes around 3 or 4 pm she'll take a 45 minute nap.

And then around 5 or 5:30, she'll take about a 20 minute nap.

She does not nap during the day- I've never gotten one of those 2 hour naps- well maybe once or twice but that's it!
