how long does an in ground pool last?
The house we are buying has a built in pool that is 26 years old with good maintenance. Are we ever going to have to replace the whole thing, or is maintaing it enough? I really know nothing about this stuff!

My parents had one put in when I was in the 5th grade. I'm in my late 30's now. 
I think they've had to have it re-lined once and had to have some cracks fixed when it was re-lined.
It's a lot of work for them to maintain it now, because they are in their 60's and it rarely gets used since my sister and I no longer live there or nearby.
For a younger couple, you should be totally fine though (maintenance-wise).

It depends what kind of pool it is and how it was installed. Mine has poured concrete walls so all I have to do is replace a liner, gunite pools need to be resurfaced every so often. My neighbors have an inground that has metal walls and it completely collapsed in when we got a lot of rain 2 years ago. It was a fortune to repair. All depends...
