How long do you "hold it in" before you POAS?

I've never POAS before.. not sure when I eventually will need to, but noticed the directions said that if you aren't going to do it in the morning, to hold your urine for awhile before you do it.

How long do you hold it for if you test in the afternoon/evening?

I have the world's smallest bladder and don't know how long I'll last!

I think they say 4 hours.

I wish I saw this earlier!!! I think I waited 30 min and then POAS and got BFN, but AF is 2 days late! It was like the 6th p of the day, not first morning. Opps! Thanks for posting this, I feel a tad bit more hopeful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For both OPK's (regular stick tests and the CBEFM) as well as HPT's I've always used FMU with NO problem. For the CBEFM they actually want FMU. I've heard you are suppose to hold it in for the regular OPK's but that is a complete and utter impossibility. You can always do an OPK in the morning and afternoon to get a more accurate result but like I said, it's always been accurate for me even with FMU.

EDIT - ALWAYS FMU FOR HPT's. It will have the most concentrated amount of hcG than other times of the day.

This is so interesting! Do you think that the fact that I p'd numerous times in the night and even after I woke up could impact the PG test? The time between the last p and test was only about 30 min. (TMI) BFN I assumed that FMU didnt matter if AF was late, and in my case 2 days late. I had cramps all day on Mon and yesterday and one pink spot on Mon. Any hope for me? Now I am just waiting it out.

If you get up to pee during the night, then your FMU may not be as concentrated.

I would use the pee that you have held in the longest. So if you slept through the night, use your FMU. If not, then just hold out as long as possible (like 3-4 hours) and/or don't drink too much liquid during that time so it's not diluted, and go for it!

I used FMU when I got my BFP. I got up "in the middle of the night" (around 5:30am) and used that pee since I had gone to sleep around midnight.

Thanks for the tips! The 5:30 am thing sounds like a good idea!! I didnt know about the not drinking too much liquids either.

As someone who when she was pregnant POAS about 1000 times at every conceivable time of day just realize.............if you're actually pregnant it really, truly does NOT matter what time of day you POAS or what urine you test with because if you're pregnant, you're pregnant and it's going to show up. Lines may be lighter or darker depending on certain circumstances but if you are pregnant you will get your BFP regardless of what urine you use and what time of day you use it. Honestly, you really don't have to put this much thought into it. Just go pee!!! LOL Good luck!!!

Im going to hold it in from lunch time until I get home so it would be 11:20 - 4 ( I get home).


Is it really true we cant drink anyting either during those 4 hours?? I just read this online and was like huh?? Its bad enough we cant go to the bathroom, now we cant drink anything either?
