how long did it take you to conceive after the pill?
i've been on for about 12 years and am thinking of coming off soon... the question is how soon. i know if i come off now, i'll get pregnant right away and if i wait, it will take me forever i know it's very hard to plan when you're going to conceive but i'm trying to find a happy medium and i don't know how my body's going to react, so i'm just looking to see if there's a general concensus on here. thanks!

I was on the pill for 8+ years. I went off in February and conceived the end of May.
It does take your body some time to regulate, we got luck because I dont think my body was 100% regulated.
The dr said wait one cycle, which we did and the next cycle I got pg. I had very long cycles. But what was strange is that prior to going on the pill I was very regular!

It really depends on the person. My body went back to normal immediately. I o'ed less than 3 weeks after I stopped taking the pill and had a 31 day cycle. My cycles are typically 30 days. I got PG 13 months after going off the pill.
Personally, I'd go off the pill now and just use a different method of BC if you are not ready to get PG. That way you can see if your body goes back to normal cycles.

About 2 months. We were actually in denial that it happened so quickly LOL.
We are both in our early 30's , and weren't really "trying" so felt it would take longer for some reason.......
I guess we're the poster children for the fact that it may happen pretty quickly.
With that said though, unfortunately as these boards alone show, there really are no guarantees that you are going to get preggers right away.
So if you want to have kids and are concerned about possible difficulty, I would just go for it. Honestly, I feel that there really is no "right" time to plan to have a child.
It's one of those things though that if you want it, you wil figure it all out.

I was on the pill for 8 + years and stopped it because it all the sudden made my cycle irregular! I stopped it at the end of January, had 1 cycle in Feb., pregnant in March. Ooppps!

I was also on the pill for 12 years. I came off of the pill and it took 5 months to conceive. I got AF like normal but then on the 5th month my cycle was longer and that's how we ended up conceiving. Good thing we tried almost every week, just in case. If we only did the BD the week we thought I was ovulating, we would've never conceived.

I went off in Sept. of '06 and got pregnant in April of '08. It took us a long time but we had fertility issues that had nothing to do with being on the pill.

Everyone is different. You really don't know how your body will react after coming off the pill. Some women don't ovulate right away while others have regular cycles right after coming off the pill. I was lucky and got pregnant the month after I came off the pill.
On average, it can take a couple with no IF issues 6-12 months to conceive. If you're not ready to TTC, you can always come off the pill and keep track of your cycles for a few months.

I was on the pill for 5 years... and got pregnant ON the pill. That was a shocker. Our son is totally fine - but I was so freaked out that I went to a genetic counseler very early in my pregnancy.

I was on the pill for 9 years. My doctor said to allow a month or 2 off the pill without trying, and a total of 6 months for your body to regulate - meaning you have have funky cycles for the first 6 months. I certainly did. One cycle was 33 days and another ws 53. !!! I'll tell you how long it took me based on cycles, not months, since I had long irregular cycles... 2 cycles off the pill without trying, then 4 cycles of trying to finally get PG.

i was on it for almost 10 years. August was my first month off of it, I got my BFP in Decemeber, conceived around Nov 25th

I was on the pill 8+ years. I went off in September and got pregnant in January. It all depends on how long it takes your body to regualte and ovulate once off the pill.

EVeryone is different we started trying last year after the wedding, had a chemical pregnancy in Nov. then got pregnant if January. My cycles were really long like 32-34 days. Had to use ovulation tracker. I would go off it now! and use a diff. kind of bc. Good luck!

I was on the pill for 15 years. I came off right after our HM in the beginning of October and was pregnant at the end of Nov. but had a m/c. Then got pregnant again in Feb. Good luck!!

i was on the pill for almost 10 yrs.. went off it in september and my body went out of control - hormones!! i was ok by december...
we werent TTC, but opps - got preggo in may...YEAH!!

I was on the pill for around 12-13 years...I Came off in April, 2006...got my period in May and June and got pregnant in July

I was on and off the pill for a good 12 - 15 yrs and got PG the FIRST MONTH OFF IT. We were kind of trying, kind of not and I had always been told it took time, but not in this case.

i was on BCP for 9 years, i went off in the middle of september 2007 and was pregnant by the end of december.
but i should say that i went on BCP to begin with because my cycles were so short - i would get AF about every 3 weeks or so. when i went off BCP (actually nuvaring) my cycles were still short so i took b-complex vitamins to try and lengthen my LP (i was ovulating around CD 12 or 13 each month so that was normal). it worked - after a month and a half taking the b vitamin i was pregnant.
