How long before your Puppy stopped pulling...

...on the leash?

our puppy is nearly 4 mos. (this saturday). We are considering a choke collar, but I am not sure if his behavior is typical at his age. We have a harness, but he gives us such a struggle putting it on.

So far, he sits on command, he retrieves on command, he comes when we call his name.

Re: How long before your Puppy stopped pulling...

I would say based on his age, that is VERY normal. Pups are excited and want to move fast!!

I would absolutely not resort to a choke collar if I were you, esp at this point. Choke collars can damage the throat, vocal chords, etc, from pulling.

There are other options, and just basic training that you can work on. You can use a nose lead (looks like a muzzle but it's a lead) and that really helps to train pups to not pull (they can't with this on).

BTW, I just looked at your pics, your pup is adorable!!

My dogs never stopped pulling (3 and 2 now). So we use something called the EZ walk harness, which prevents a lot of pulling. For dogs that pull
